Welcome to Dheer, a quiet, cosy retreat in the heart of Purbapally, one of the oldest and soulful neighbourhoods of Santiniketan. Whether you are here for rest, reflection, research, or just to soak in the charm of this culturally rich town, our home opens its doors to you with warmth, simplicity, and care. The name ‘Dheer’ means calm, composed, and slow—a value we truly live by. Here, we embrace slow living, meaningful conversations, and the joy of everyday moments. The space Accommodation: -One comfortable, thoughtfully maintained room on the first floor. The Room has a separate working or dining arrangement, furniture for short or longer visits. -Attached private bathroom for your convenience. Extra Guest: -A third person can be accommodated with an additional charge of ₹500 per day. We host only one guest/family at a time, so your privacy and comfort are always our priority. Guest access The guests can access: -The top terrace (shared access ): perfect for quiet mornings or stargazing nights -The front/back garden areas. -Back veranda for optional outdoor dining experience. (To be chacked with the host in advance for access) -The guests can book homely meals against an extra charge (lunch and dinner). We kindly request an advance order for food each day, so we can prepare it with care. For longer stays, we’re happy to work out custom meal arrangements to suit your routine. [Note: For meals, cash is preferred.] During your stay This is not just a homestay but also our home and an artist’s studio, so we are mostly available at the property. If you need anything during your stay, you can simply come downstairs and meet us directly, or give us a call. We’ll be happy to help you with room needs, local tips, or just a friendly chat about art and Santiniketan. Other things to note Your hosts are Dr. Abhilasha Pandey, a visual artist, and Dr. Rahul Majumder, an art historian—both alumni of Kala Bhavana, Visva-Bharati. Guests can also opt for art history/art appreciation classes, offered by your hosts. These sessions can be tailored to your interests, whether you're a curious beginner or an art enthusiast.
