Built in 1875, Torridon Estate is a lively, characterful home situated in one of the most dramatic landscapes of Scotland’s west coast. We’re nestled between gentle waterfalls, hiking trails, the breathtaking mountains, and the stony shores of the loch itself -- all within an easy walking distance of our property. Guest access Guests staying at Torridon Estate are welcome to enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast (typically served between 8:30-9:30 in the mornings) in the dining room, with views of the woods and a fireplace when it gets chilly outside. We welcome you to recline after a long day outdoors in our Piano Room, which doubles as a cozy sitting room in the evenings. There are numerous couches, a warm fireplace, and a tipple or two available should the mood strike you. Wifi is available in the Piano Room and the main hall, and there is plenty of free parking at the front of the house. Check-out is between 10-10:30 a.m. Please note that we don’t currently offer guest cooking facilities in the main house, but there are a number of restaurants and cafes in easy driving distance. During your stay There is almost always someone available at the house who would be delighted to answer questions and share recommendations. We have lots of suggestions for activities to do in the surrounding area. Overall, though, we tend to give our guests plenty of space for their own quiet enjoyment of the property. We speak English and German. Other things to note Although we are delighted to welcome guests into our family home, please be mindful that Torridon is just that: a family home, with the quirks and charm of a historic property. If you’re an intrepid, independent traveller (or family of travellers!) looking to base your Highland adventures somewhere unique, we’re thrilled to have you on board. The house can get quite cool in the evenings, particularly later in the seasons, so please bring a couple of wooly jumpers with you, and feel free to use the space heaters provided in all of the bedrooms. While we do have working wifi in the main hallway and the Piano Room, the connection isn’t lightning-fast, and it’s best used for checking emails rather than loading large files. Water-wise, we’re lucky enough to have our own personal spring up in the hills that’s fed by the moor; it’s perfectly drinkable, but it is distinctly tea-coloured. If you would prefer, we have filtered water available for all our guests. Similarly, we use a gravity-fed water system in the house, resulting in showers that get perfectly hot, but might be slightly lower-pressure than the ones you’d find in a city. Our home is ideal for travelling families: we certainly don’t mind having kids running around, since ours are likely doing the same. In the evenings, though, the house is very peaceful. --- In short, we hope to ensure that all of our guests have a magical stay at Torridon Estate.
