Large house on a private island with lake view

This house was originally built as a summer retreat hide away for widows from the center of Stockholm. It has, since then, undergone a huge transformation and is now used for conference groups. We are now welcoming private guests and the large family from midsummer - August 2019 during the Swedish vacation period and in conference low season. The Summerhouse is beautifully set with its own, large private garden facing the sea in two directions. Perfect for large families or birthday gatherings. The space The house sleeps 26 persons in 11 rooms shared toilettes and two newly build shower rooms for six persons at the time. But we prefer you live the old archipelago style and wash in the sea instead (see more under our chapter about sustainability at the island. 8 single rooms that could be used as doubles since the pullman beds easily makes it into doubles. 2 triple rooms 1 Four bed room (or doubles if you prefer) A large balcony and a charming front porch overlooking the sea. Dining room overlooking the gardens Living room with a nice touch of the maritime surrounding. All in a light Scandinavian design. Close to the house is a retreat place with 27 hammocks on a hill top. Perfect to enjoy the sunset that you can use for free. Several private sandy beaches within walking distance. Welcome to a laid back Archipelago paradise! Sustainability at the island During the last 25 years we have developed into one of the most sustainable destinations in Sweden. None of that would have been possible without a lot of help from our guests. Meaning you will be highly involved in that work as a guest on the island. For example: • During the summer of 2018 we reached a long term set goal and managed to pull down on garbage to an absolute minimum. We will instruct you on how to continue that work upon arrival. • Trying to minimize the food waste and use what is left in Composts located outside every house. The soil it produces within two years is used to plant vegetables that we serve our guests. • The water supply in the Stockholm Archipelago decreases at a frightening pace. Many wells have already dried out permanently. The island still has water though. Probably because we live as the widows in the day back then? Instead of showering we take our morning and evening baths in the sea. Refreshing and healthy! Especially at the end of September ;) SECURITY We have first aid trained staff at the island 24/7 We also have emergency medicine for allergic shock and a defibrillator at the site. The rescue helicopter reaches the island within 17 minutes if emergency happens. IMPORTANT Mandatory cleaning fee of 1.500 SEK, regardless of number of occupants. The islands name is Koholmen and the distance from Stockholm is 45 minutes. We Will rent a taxiboat for you who takes 7-12 persons in one trip. The cost is 200kr/person both ways. You will park at skeppsdal in åkersberga where the taxiboat Will be waiting for you. When you arrive our host will inform you of everything you need to know during your stay, but be sure to read the information before arrival. There are no stores on the island so you have to bring all the food, hygien articles you need before getting to the island. If you want we can make you breakfast in the morning with newly baked bread and much more. If you want to book breakfast make sure to contact us one week before your arrival. Or you can bring your own breakfast. Towel and sheets can be rented for the cost of 170kr/person and the breakfast feed is 110kr/person per day Prices Some activities are available for rent such as zip-line, sauna, kayak, gym. Sauna 500kr/night Kayak 200kr/day Zip-line 475kr for three rides The gym is free Sheets and towel 170kr/person Breakfast 110kr/person Barbeque is only allowed when there are no danger of fire and the grill will be placed out if it is ok to barbeque. The island is 1km long with a lot of beautiful beaches, cliffs and nice walk paths along the water, find your favorite place and enjoy life! We are one of the most environment friendly island in Sweden. We have been doing a environment work here on the island for 22 years and you will be apart of that. We are very carefull about the environment so make sure you recycle your trash. When you leave the island make sure to bring with you the glass and plastic. Smoking is not allowed in the houses.
