Two boutique, self-contained country getaways

2 self-contained boutique spaces - each with their own modern and spacious en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower. Own entrance for each space - combined they can sleep up to 4 people - we can also provide a travel cot for a baby or toddler up to the age of around 3. A super peaceful getaway in the grounds of a Grade II listed cottage on the Essex / Cambridgeshire borders. Each room has a table, fridge, kettle and toaster with breakfast material provided (more details below). The space This listing allows you to book both self-contained spaces at Grove Cottage for up to 4 people (plus a small baby / toddler). They are both on the same property, on either side of the main house (they are not directly connected together) Room 1: Apple Tree View : Self-contained secluded space Spacious converted cart lodge, with views across large gardens. A quiet and secluded getaway with your own private entrance. The whole space is self-contained for guests. Self-check in is available. Super peaceful at night and very dark - a good night's sleep awaits on the comfy bed. The large double bed can also be separated to make two singles, on request. The modern and large bathroom is downstairs with a sink, toilet and walk-in shower. Heated towel rails keep your supplied towels nice and warm Comfy chairs, breakfast area and modern bathroom are all just for guest use. A travel cot is available on request. Room 2: The Garden Room The Garden Room is your own private space with a very comfy double bed (with an ortho-2000 mattress and memory foam topper) and access to your own modern bathroom with sink, walk-in shower and toilet. It overlooks a beautiful kitchen garden. Breakfast is taken in the room or sitting outside on the decking. For both rooms, the breakfast provided contains fresh milk, yoghurt, home-made sourdough, home-made muesli and granola, fruit compote and home-made jams and marmalade (jams made from home-grown / foraged fruit). Both rooms are set in the grounds of a Grade II listed cottage. The cottage dates back to the 19th century and is set in large, well maintained gardens. Ashdon is a small village in North Essex, with the lovely market town of Saffron Walden on the doorstep and lots of small villages, country pubs and sights to see and explore in the area. Cambridge is a short drive away and it's also a great place to stay if you have an early start at Stansted airport - it's only 40 mins drive from Ashdon. There are several National Trust and English Heritage properties within easy reach, a local vineyard offering tours and tastings, and art galleries and places of interest all around. Our local pub, The Rose and Crown (5 mins walk) has a delicious menu. Serving food from Wednesday - Sunday. In the next village of Bartlow, the award winning pub The Three Hill offers a fabulous country welcome with a high end menu and a great beer garden. Our double rooms are completely self-contained, each with their own entrance, bedroom and bathroom. There are no shared spaces, making them an ideal getaway. We have a large garden and there are plenty of walks in the area, please do take advantage of these green spaces. Guest access Both spaces are yours to come and go as you want during your stay. They are both completely self-contained with a secure locked entrance. We'll come in each day to refresh breakfast materials and clear any washing up if you're staying more than one night. You will have access to the garden and let us know if you'd like to head up into the treehouse. Other things to note At present, pets are not allowed in the property. The property and grounds are strictly non-smoking. We also have electric car charging facilities available - charged separately. Please contact us for details.
