Description
La Grange is a renovated barn superbly situated in the heart of the Chartreuse Nature Park 25km south of Chambery. It's a paradise for summer/winter Alpine sports. This is a 3-star gite sleeping 8-12 people in full comfort and authentic alpine style. The space The total area of the living accommodation is about 114 square metres. Apart from the ground floor kitchen, all of the rooms have been constructed almost entirely with wood. By contrast, the kitchen and dining room retain the original stone walls and vaulted brick ceiling. The situation is South facing and very sunny until late afternoon. There's a large wooden terrace on the first level for dining outdoors. The views from La Grange are breathtaking in all directions. Les Claret is situated on a pass ('col' in French) between St. Pierre d'Entremont and Entremont le Vieux. Consequently, the views from here are absolutely stunning with Grand Som and Chamechaude to the south and Le Pinet dominating the northern view. The Parc Naturel de la Chartreuse is also one of the best areas for summer hill walking in France and is an excellent and undiscovered venue for winter skiing, snow-show tours and winter sports. Little known to English tourists, La Chartreuse offers the authentic alpine experience. The local town (5 km) boasts a good range of shops, banks and restaurants plus a pro-active tourist office. Guest access The terrace is reserved for our guests and our family willingly shares the garden with our guests. It's mainly laid to lawn and flower beds, a small vegetable garden and herbs and is shaded by a beautiful ash tree. A barbecue and a ping-pong table are available. There is also a parking available just outside the gite. It's suitable for two smallish cars or one large one. There is also a large village parking 25 metres away. Other things to note There are many fascinating visits available nearby such as the Chartreusian Monastery, the historic cities of Annecy, Grenoble and Chambery. Children love the 'Indian Forest' Adventure Park in Sappey en Chartreuse or St Pierre de Chartreuse. The museum of prehistoric bears is close by, as are the 'Caves de Voiron' where the world-renowned Chartreuse liquor is made.
