The Grey house is a beautiful cottage on a rural farm at the head of Loch Broom, within 7 miles of Ullapool. Although it is one of the oldest houses in Loch Broom it is fully modern with central heating, and a wood burning stove. It is known to have some of the best views in the glen. Cats, due to scratching are not normally hosted but well behaved house trained dogs can be quartered in the utility room. The space This is a historic house situated in beautiful location near the shores of Loch Broom. The location is often used as a setting off point for climbers and ramblers heading to the nearby (Munro) mountains and hill lochs, which are great to swim in during warmer weather. The Grey House (which is actually white) is a traditional yet modernised highland cottage located six miles south of Ullapool on a working farm. It is one of the oldest buildings in the area and is situated in the middle of the Broom valley. Built in 1735 it has fantastic views in all directions. Bedroom 1 has two long comfortable single beds sleeping 2 people. Bedroom 2 has a comfortable king size double and can sleep up to two people. The Greyhouse also has a modern bathroom, central heating and a cosy wood burning stove. River fishing for trout, sea trout and salmon on the Lael & Broom rivers are also available upon request. Wildlife and boat tours for up to 5 people are also available upon request, info can be found at wildandforage. com For history enthusiasts the Grey House was built in the 18C, ten years before the battle of Culloden and was the clan chief of Mackenzie of Coul’s west coast property in Loch Broom. The Grey House has been renovated and is a warm and cosy house with comfortable beds and great views, within easy access of the tourist destination and fishing village of Ullapool. Guest access Entrance area, Utility room, Kitchen, Dining room, Socialising area with seating on other side of dining room, Bathroom, Guest Bedroom. Other things to note To improve energy sustainability bedding and towels are washed with biodegradable detergent and folded flat but are not ironed between bookings. The rainfall shower works best at half flow (set the flow lever at an angle of around 45 degrees) Biodegradable shampoo and soap in shower are quite concentrated so you do not need very much to wash. Although 4 guest bedsapces is the availability at the Greyhouse, an additional single bed can be made up in the second bedroom, with prior arrangement, for an additional cost
