The space Our beach house lies 6 km north of Vilanculos town, which forms part of the Bazaruto Archipelago marine reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A location to beat them all, Villa Ponta has direct beach access via a private pathway. Here, on a quiet fishing bay, magnificent red cliffs form a backdrop to the ebb and flow of local life. Glorious views from the deck skim the Indian Ocean and encompass the celebrated islands of Bazaruto, Benguerra, Magaruque, and Santa Carolina (Paradise Island) all easily accessible with our skippered boat. A stylish timber and thatch beach house sleeping 8, Villa Ponta boasts 4 beautifully appointed air-conditioned bedrooms over two floors. The three spacious master bedrooms have garden or ocean views and en-suite bathrooms. The fourth bedroom has a garden view and utilizes a shared bathroom. All beds have mosquito nets. We have a comprehensive kitchen with a gas hob, electric oven and all the necessary appliances for your self-catering needs. Don’t feel like cooking? A private chef can be arranged, subject to availability, at an extra cost. Our light-filled, double-volume living area includes a plush lounge, a well-stocked library, and an 8-seater dining table. This space connects seamlessly with a large, raised deck where another seating area, a prized daybed (you’ll fight over this spot for day naps), and a set of hammocks beckons. The view from here is hard to beat. Descend into the lush garden and enjoy our sheltered swimming pool and thatched cabana with BBQ, surrounded by a verdant lawn and mature shade trees. Cool off with an outdoor shower plumbed into one of our trees. Vilanculos is the perfect year-round holiday destination with or without kids, offering access to warm waters, great fishing, ocean sports, island trips, or poolside relaxation with your favourite book. Guest access There are two direct flights daily from Johannesburg and Maputo. To ensure you unwind, the house is serviced daily by our dream team - Jonny and Sergio. Jonny can also assist with buying the best seafood in the local market, as well as skippering the dhow. All linen and towels are provided. The villa has direct beach access. Other things to note While Vilanculos town is only 10 mins away by car, we advise either arranging your own vehicle or using a taxi or tuk-tuk which will collect you up the hill. A first-class clinic, open 24 hours a day, is situated five minutes away. For a truly authentic experience, Villa Ponta owns a traditional dhow which is moored in the bay in front of the house. It is available to rent, with Johnny as a skipper. Our deep sea boat, called Tabasco, is equipped with two 135hp 4-stroke motors and comfortably takes 8 passengers. You can rent her through our estate manager. A charcoal BBQ is available at the pool as no open fires are allowed here. A standby generator is available during occasional power cuts.
