Description
Come and relax in the heart of the Wealden Kent countryside, half an hour outside the M25 in this beautiful, homely and very individual Tudor country house. The one bedroom suite, with four poster bed, is on the first floor, ensuring lots of natural light with beautiful views. The space The bedroom is large and contains a big Four Poster bed, which belonged to one of Nelson’s sea captains and has been in the family for generations. The bed is approximately Super King size. The room evokes the rustic, traditional feel of the whole house. Linen, towels and bathroom essentials are all provided, as is a hairdryer and iron. The sofa converts into a sofa bed (fits two children or one adult) and a camp bed is also available for additional guests/children. There is an ensuite bathroom which contains a bath, basin and loo, and a shower attachment in the bath, though no stand-up shower. Tea and cafetière coffee and fresh milk are available in the room. They can walk freely in the spacious garden and also on the large number of public footpaths in the surrounding fields and valleys. Our fields adjoin the Scotney Castle estate (National Trust) so guests can take footpaths directly into the estate. It takes about half an hour to walk to the castle from us, and maps are available in the room. During your stay We live in the main part of the house with our own entrance. Other things to note Dorset Cereal and milk are provided in the room. There is a high-end restaurant 500m walk away called ‘The Small Holding’ in Kilndown - see their website for opening hours. For guests wanting a Full English Breakfast, the Star & Eagle in Goudhurst (3 miles away) is a good option. This is an old country house, where not everything is new and perfect. We think that is part of its charm, and our guests tend to say very nice things about it. If you’re wanting to stay somewhere where everything is gleaming and unblemished, as one would expect in a hotel, this isn’t the place for you. If you’re looking for a comfortable and traditional home with a lived-in feel, with lots of space and light and history, and with wonderful countryside all around, it may be just right.
