San Jose has some nice places to visit. Because of the traffic we recommend that you take the train that leaves from lnvu las cañas de Alajuela, just a 10 minute walk to the train station. Once in San Jose, places to visit are Teatro Nacional, Museo de Oro, Museo Nacional and the local artisan markets nearby.
