This cottage, in the village of Wrelton near Pickering, was a 19th century blacksmith's forge and has now been renovated into a delightful living space complete with fully-equipped kitchen, large living room area, bathroom with walk-in shower and a cosy bedroom located on a mezzanine floor which is reached via a spiral staircase. The Old Forge offers a great location for a relaxing stay in beautiful North Yorkshire. The space Inside, within the lounge area, you will find a sofa, armchair and a widescreen TV. There is a dining table and chairs. In the kitchen, you’ll find an oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge as well as other equipment you will need for cooking. The bathroom has a shower, heated towel rail as well as all other necessities. The bedroom, on the mezzanine floor, has a double bed. The cottage is heated by electric radiators. Original features of the blacksmith’s forge have been maintained, including an anvil, horseshoes, window, some oak beams and a beautiful stone floor. The Old Forge can be accessed easily by car or bike with space for parking outside. A secure lock-up can be provided for up to two bicycles. A short drive will take you to Pickering, Helmsley and Malton. The North York Moors National Park and the coastal town of Whitby are also not far away. The North York Moors Railway can take you by steam train from nearby Pickering to Whitby. The train travels through 24 miles of North Yorkshire's amazingly beautiful scenery. The cottage is a great location for walks and cycling through stunning countryside. We are happy to help our guests with directions or finding anything they may require after arriving in Wrelton. The Old Forge is a private building so once guests are in possession of the keys, they will have exclusive use of the cottage. Another bonus is that the Old Forge is only a two minute walk from the village pub, The Buck Inn. Wrelton is on the 128 bus route to Helmsley (west) and Scarborough (east).
