The Perch

Welcome to The Perch - a unique slice of paradise on 2 acres that must surely be one of the most peaceful properties in WA. 4WD Highly Recommended Sweeping views over State forest with the charming sound of native birds to wake you each morning and the joyful sight of them playing in the bush. The Frankland River gently flowing past - visible from the balcony and a short walk from the house. Remote, but connected - free WiFi available via Starlink! Please read "other details to note" for more. The space The Perch is located on Riverside Drive in the small hamlet of Nornalup, approximately 15 minutes from Walpole and 45 minutes from Denmark. From here, you can easily access Great Southern wineries, stunning beaches like Peaceful Bay, and breath-taking forests including the Valley of the Giants. Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the world-famous Bibbulmun Track hiking trail and the Munda Biddi mountain bike trail. You can paddle along the Frankland River or, if you have a boat, explore the Nornalup Inlet or Great Southern Ocean, weather permitting. For those seeking a slower pace, curl up with a book in front of the fire or sit on the balcony to soak in the tranquility. We provide firewood for one night, feel free to use fallen materials that you find on the block, and more is available for purchase from Walpole. The property accommodates up to five people with one queen bed, 1 king bed (which can be divided into two singles on request) and one camping bed. Free WiFi is available via Starlink which provides access to streaming services on a massive TV. The Frankland - a new microbrewery and pizzeria - is also walking distance from The Perch. The Perch has a very steep driveway; four-wheel drive is recommended. Small trailers can use the driveway, but caravans, camper trailers, or boat trailers are not permitted for safety reasons. Guest access Guests have full access to the house, balcony, and the surrounding 2-acre property, including the areas near the Frankland River (a short 2-minute walk from the house). You are welcome to use the inflatable paddle boards and kayaks. The property has a very steep driveway—four-wheel drive is recommended. Small trailers can access the driveway, but caravans, camper trailers, or boat trailers are not permitted for safety reasons. Inside, guests can enjoy the full kitchen, laundry, books, DVDs, and board games. Starlink is included, and there is a smart TV with streaming services. The second bedroom features two single beds that, when pushed together, make a king sized bed. There is a gel topper for comfort in the king sized configuration. Other things to note Same place, same people, different listing... It's a long story that Air BnB hosts will be familiar with - to keep it short, we had a change in how The Perch is managed online and we had to start a whole new listing. Since opening in October 2025, we had an average rating of 4.92 from our Air BnB guests. We're super proud of that because we know it costs you money to go there, we know it take a bit of effort to get there (particularly that driveway!), and we genuinely want you to have a good time. Shame is that in creating the new listing, we lost all our data which we know you find important when deciding whether to book. We've taken screen captures of our original listing, and of all the reviews (nothing to hide). Each time we've had a suggestion from a guest, we've looked closely if we can implement it - to make our guests' stays even more amazing. Some we can't do (eg make the driveway less steep). There is a new microbrewery and pizzeria a 5 -10 minute walk away on the corner of Riverside Drive (currently openly seasonally including long weekends and school holidays). There are two single beds in the second bedroom which, when pushed together, make a king sized bed. There is a gel topper that goes on top of the singles to make the king sized configuration comfortable. There is one camping bed stored in the master bedroom. Linen for them is not supplied.
