Staying at Wathegar is a true 'away from it all' experience. Set amongst 800 acres of farmland between Bilbster and Wick Wathegar is a rural stone farm house. Our second home, Wathegar is a self catering cottage is perfect for a family holiday or celebration, a stop off on a road trip, a friends get together, or a surfing or shooting trip. Businesses have also found its size and privacy appealing. The space Undisturbed by all, you're free to roam the farmland under the wide ever reaching Caithness skies. Expect deer, hares , pheasants , and sheep as neighbours. Family owned, Wathegar was bought as a Christmas Tree farm. Now, the land accommodates both Christmas trees and the working Wathegar Wind Farm, where sustainable energy is generated. Although it is a cottage, Wathegar feels spacious and boasts 10ft high ceilings downstairs. Wathegar has been recently refurbished and has efficient oil central heating throughout with additional electric fires in the lounge and dining room. Ground floor: Dining room - Left hand ground level window, ground floor. 6 – 8 seater table. Living room - Right hand ground level window, ground floor. With television and electric fire. Kitchen- Rear of house, fitted with dishwasher, cooker, fridge freezer and microwave. Utility Room- Rear of house, utility room with washing machine, dryer, chest freezer and a further fridge. Bathroom 1- *New for 2021 * Ground floor. Bath, Shower and WC. This shower runs of the C/H system and the other two elsewhere are electrically heated individual showers. Bedroom 1- Double bed. Large square room. Ideal for those who can't use stairs. Access to bathroom downstairs and all other amenities. First Floor: Bedroom 2 - Two twin beds. Left hand side of house. 2 large wardrobes. Bathroom 2- Shower, sink, WC. Bedroom 3- Two twin beds, right hand side of house slightly larger than bedroom 2. 2 large wardrobes. Above the kitchen: Bedroom 4- Double bed. Separate to other bedrooms at rear of the house above kitchen with own door and stairs. Bathroom 3- *New 2021* En suite, shower, WC and sink. Activities- We can organise shooting parties. Please enquire. The gravel roads and dirt tracks are suitable for driving, walking, biking, quad biking etc. Guest access Plenty of parking!! No problem.
