The space When relocating to Hilton from Zimbabwe in 2003, Gateside Guesthouse took our breath away with its stunning views and Victorian charm, typical of the area. It's easy to believe that one has stepped out of Africa in this lush, misty countryside... Gateside is definitely a "character" home, being part of the original "Kings Gap" farm, since subdivided and now with the main Victorian farmhouse next door which dates back to the 1800's. It became our home and 20 years' later, the view still attracts as much as ever; constantly changing with the seasons and different weather patterns (which, in Hilton, is often!) It is believed that Gateside is the oldest Bed & Breakfast still in existence in Hilton. We have a central location in a beautiful setting, tucked away in a peaceful cul-de-sac . We are a happy bunch with staff who welcome you with friendly smiles. We encourage our guests to feel at home and comfortable, whether it's business or pleasure. Guest access There are information folders giving places of interest, restaurants and activities in the area and there is also a selection of brochures to be found in the hallway of the Guesthouse. We have numerous restaurants and local village shops within 1 to 6 km of us and easy access to the N3 highway (2kms), Pietermaritzburg city centre (10kms.) Come and enjoy a relaxing stay in a beautiful setting.
