The space 🌿 A nature-filled & romantic getaway Upon arrival at Le Puy Papillon, the chalet welcomes you in the heart of the forest, nestled beneath majestic Douglas firs and shaded by tall evergreens. A traditional stone path leads you to the chalet and its private terrace, open to nature. Bathed in natural light and surrounded by greenery, the space invites you to live both indoors and outdoors: sunny breakfasts, lazy afternoon naps in the shade, or evening barbecues under the stars. 🦌 Nature all around you As the days unfold, the forest comes alive: Spot deer and does in the early morning, from the hammock Birdsong, shifting light and forest scents Walks through shaded paths and open clearings Occasionally, a fox quietly crosses at dusk… 🌲 A living garden to explore Surrounding the chalet is a forest-inspired garden, rich and ever-changing: Japanese maples, daylilies, ornamental grasses, bamboos and many remarkable plants. A place to wander freely, with evolving colors, textures and atmospheres throughout the seasons. 🛶 Activities & discoveries Step straight from the chalet onto hiking trails, or explore the nearby Dordogne Valley: swimming, canoeing and charming villages. An inflatable canoe is available for use at Lake Feyt. Guest access 🌲 Le Puy Papillon: a refuge in a protected natural area Just 10 minutes from Argentat-sur-Dordogne, this 35 m² chalet with terrace sits on the edge of the forest, in a free and protected natural setting, overlooking a peaceful meadow and the neighbor’s pond. Local wildlife is all around: deer, hares, foxes, owls, salamanders and dormice often appear at dawn or dusk, adding magic to your evenings by the fire. 🛍️ Shops & nearby villages 🥐 Less than 1 km: bakery, grocery store, gas station (Amazon Locker). 🧁 5 min – Saint-Privat: supermarket, pharmacy, bar-tabac, artisan pastry shop. 🌅 10 min – Argentat-sur-Dordogne: flowered quays, markets, restaurants & traditional riverboat rides. 🏞️ 20 min – Pleaux (Cantal): character village with medieval heritage. ⛰️ 30 min – Tulle: historic center, cathedral, shops. 🌟 Natural & cultural sites to discover 🏰 Tours de Merle (30 min) – impressive medieval fortress in its wild setting. 🙏 Rocamadour (1h) – sacred cliffside village, a French heritage jewel. 💦 Cascade de Murel (20 min) – enchanting waterfall and forest walk. Other things to note 🍃 Respect for nature & harmony with the place Le Puy Papillon has been designed as a living, poetic garden, where rare plants, perennials, ornamental and fruit shrubs grow throughout the seasons. Please avoid walking in the flower beds and make sure children and pets 🐾 respect these fragile plantings. Some plants are marked with botanical labels 🏷️ to help identify them. 👶🐕 The one-hectare property is not fenced: it includes woods, clearings and natural paths 🌳. For safety, please keep an eye on children and pets at all times. 🏡 The chalet, painted in deep red with blue-grey shutters, blends discreetly into the surrounding vegetation 🌲, allowing wildlife (deer, hares, birds…) to come close and be observed right from the terrace. 🚽 Eco-friendly dry toilets: clean, simple and odorless, they use walnut sawdust and biodegradable bags. A composter is available in a shaded area, 500 m from the chalet, to dispose of the bags after use ♻️. 🧺 Practical comfort: bed linen, towels and kitchen cloths are provided. You’ll also find a small first-aid kit and a few spare essentials in case you forgot something (toothbrush, bike repair patches, etc.).
