The Wee Hoose is a peaceful countryside retreat set within 4 acres of private pasture and woodland on the edge of Moffat. Adjacent to the scenic Annandale Way, it is ideal for walkers, cyclists, motorcyclists, wildlife lovers, and guests seeking a relaxing rural escape. Enjoy open countryside views, riverside walks, and dark skies, while still being only a short walk from Moffat’s shops, cafés, restaurants, and bars. Just 5 minutes from Junction 15 of the M74. The space The Wee Hoose is a recently refurbished self-contained accommodation set beside the owners’ property within 4 acres of private pasture, woodland, and riverside grounds. The River Annan forms the boundary of the property, and guests are welcome to wander through the woodland to the riverside seating areas where they can relax and enjoy the sounds of the river, local birdlife, and surrounding countryside. For guests wishing to enjoy the local wildlife and dark skies, binoculars and a night-vision monocular are provided. The owners respect guests’ privacy and do not enter the land adjoining the Wee Hoose during guest stays. A rotary clothes airer (whirligig) is also available beside the accommodation for guests wishing to dry clothes outdoors. 🧼 CLEANLINESS We are committed to Airbnb’s enhanced five-step cleaning process to help ensure the Wee Hoose is clean, comfortable, and welcoming for every guest. Guest access Guests have their own private entrance, and a key safe is provided for convenient self check-in on arrival. On arrival, guests can park their cars or motorcycles within the secure driveway. Guests bringing bicycles are also welcome to store them safely in the stables or barn. In addition, there is ample parking space outside for several vehicles, with no nearby neighbouring houses. Moffat town centre is only a 5-minute walk from the Wee Hoose, allowing guests to leave their vehicles safely parked while enjoying the local shops, cafés, pubs, and restaurants. 🥾 Walking Into Town To walk into Moffat, simply turn right at the drive gates and cross over the old bridge. From there you have two options: • Continue straight ahead along the pavement, which takes you directly into town. OR • At the end of the bridge, walk down the steps to the riverside path and turn left for a lovely scenic walk beside the river. The riverside route gently meanders towards town, with several left turnings leading back up into the centre along the way. If you continue along the river for around 20 minutes, you will arrive at the car park entrance opposite Station Park, at the lower end of the town centre.Turn left to enter the town. In this area you will find the Esso garage and the Co-op, both of which have cash machines, along with the famous Moffat Woollen Mill, offering plenty of Scottish gifts, clothing, and local goodies and an inexpensive breakfast. There is also a regular X74 bus service from the town centre to central Glasgow, making it easy for guests to enjoy a day or evening in the city without worrying about parking — or to relax and enjoy a glass of something refreshing before returning Other things to note Perfect for Walkers, Cyclists & Motorcyclists 🥾🚴🏍️ The Wee Hoose is ideally located for some of the area’s most scenic walks, cycling routes, and motorcycle touring roads. Popular local routes including the riverside walk, Gallow Hill, and the famous Devil’s Beef Tub are all within easy reach, offering stunning scenery for casual walkers, experienced hikers, cyclists, and touring motorcyclists alike. Further afield, the breathtaking Grey Mare’s Tail and Loch Skeen are only around 20 minutes away by car or motorcycle and are well worth visiting during your stay. Secure bicycle storage is available within the stable block or barn, while motorcycles can be safely parked within the private driveway. A selection of walking and hiking guides, along with useful local information, can be found in the welcome pack inside the Wee Hoose. 💷 Please Note Moffat no longer has a bank, although cash machines are available at the Co-op and inside the Esso petrol station.
