The Gullymonster Oceanfront Beach Cabin

The Gullymonster is a classic Oregon coast cabin built in 1976 and lovingly refreshed as a pet friendly retreat for families, couples, & friends. A spacious beachfront deck is ideal for sunny days and floor to ceiling windows make for cozy indoor wave watching whatever the season. Beach access is next to the cabin down a sandy path through sweet smelling dune grasses and native salal. The space Located slightly forward from the neighbors, the Gullymonster offers over 180 degrees of unobstructed ocean views, framed by Twin Rocks to the south and Neah-kah-nie Mountain to the north. Cedar adirondack chairs from Philomath’s Oregon Patio Works and the 6 person hot tub made in Oregon at West Coast Spas are the perfect spot for coffee in the morning or cocktails at sunset. But the real treasure is that this amazing view is just as accessible inside - from the couch to the kitchen sink, this house delivers the peace and power of the Pacific from every angle. Newly updated furnishings compliment the charm of this authentic Rockaway Beach cabin, all thoughtfully selected to create a cozy, relaxing stay for our family - and yours! The two bedrooms are all about a restful sleep with new Purple mattresses on both the King and Queen sized beds and black out curtains on the windows facing the street. A new Joybird convertible couch with a 5 inch resilient mattress queen bed offers additional sleeping space in the living room and the chance to wake up to the best view in the house. Kids are welcome to take advantage of the 3.5 inch Ikea folding mattresses to camp out in either the living room or on the floor of the bedrooms. Plenty of extra blankets, comforters and pillows in an assortment of weights provide options for a great night’s sleep for everyone. A well stocked kitchen, including a new Kitchenaid dishwasher, Viking cookware, and inverter microwave, is intended to make sure that cooking is easy and clean up is simple. The electric oven is more dated but functional. A portable propane Weber grill can be used outside the garage. Multiple coffee making options include a french press, an aeropress, and a standard drip coffee maker as well as a Kitchenaid Burr grinder and lighter, smaller electric grinder. For remote work or creative endeavors, a standing desk with an electrical raise and lower base from Portland made Fully company is stored in the closet of the King bedroom with space to work in that room, or roll the desk right up to the floor to ceiling windows facing the ocean - if that won’t be too distracting! High speed internet clocks a download speed of 531Mbps and an upload speed of 31Mbps, usually sufficient to stream 4K videos with latency low enough to support remote video. Flip through 100+ channels of Satellite Dish TV or cast your phone to our Chromecast equipped receiver. A Nest Hub device allows you to play YouTube Music by voice command. Low tech options include puzzles, games including vintage Battleship and Monopoly and a selection from our favorite Oregonian sci-fi matron Ursula K. LeGuin’s Wizard of Earthsea. Bocce, cornhole, and an assortment of beach and camp chairs are available to bring around to the small yard or tote down to the beach. Kids will enjoy the beach toys - and parents will be happy to know there is a stroller, high chair, and pack and play portable crib available to make packing for little ones easier. A baby gate is also provided for the top of the stairs leading down to the basement. A new LG washer and dryer makes it easy to toss wet clothes in for a spin or pack light and do a load of laundry on vacation. Bikes are offered as-is and we do not guarantee them to be in working order. A tire pump and helmets are on site. The single story layout with both bedrooms, living room, kitchen and bathroom on one floor make moving around easy, and the view from the house and deck allow for a rich beach experience for people with limited mobility. There are nine steps up to the porch to access the home, and a low ridge at the sliding glass door entrance. The shower is equipped with a detachable handheld showerhead. Well behaved, completely potty trained, securely attached dogs are welcome - and sure to make new friends at this dog friendly beach. Stainless steel bowls, pet waste bags, an outdoor hose and dog towels are available and a crate is provided for pet owners who would find that useful. Pets are not allowed to be left alone in the house. Please note the yard isn't fenced and dogs should be kept off the dunes and on leash per local leash laws. We charge a one time $30 pet fee that is used to cover the cleaning you’d expect to do after hosting four-legged guests, such as vacuuming fur off the furniture and wiping nose or paw prints off sliding glass doors. It is included as part of your nightly price, spread out equally over the course of a guest’s stay. It will also be included in the total price at checkout, not as a separate fee. We are thrilled to welcome you to our beach cabin. We have created this home away from home with all the treats and treasures that we enjoy when we are at Rockaway, so please let us know if there are other needs or requests that would help you feel at home while you are at the Gullymonster! Other things to note Please note that before your arrival we request a copy of a photo ID for identification purposes shared via Airbnb's secure messaging app. We are not able to require this in our settings without changing other requirements that don't work for us. We do not intend to cause anyone discomfort with this request, so please let us know if you have concerns. We make this request so that we have the ability to contact you directly in case of an emergency and not rely on Airbnb as a third party. This is based on best practices of fellow hosts and we consider it a courtesy on the part of our guests who are staying in our family's home. But we are willing to waive this request when our guests message us to explain their concerns or make other arrangements.
