Lakeview House & Estate is a luxurious very private mansion directly on the world famous Lakes of Killarney. This private owner's own home is made available for guests and corporate events for only a few weeks each year. Steeped in history and character, this elegant home is an ideal holiday base. Whether you choose to enjoy all the House and Estate has to offer or to explore the region's scenery, golf, fishing and other activities, you will be spoilt for choice. The House boasts wonderfully spacious living areas, all with high ceilings and impressive woodwork and plasterwork. The very impressive formal Dining Room, filled with family portraits, can seat up to 18. The large and comfortable Drawing Room has an open fire and the very atmospheric Library has a wood burning stove. The fully fitted Kitchen/Breakfast Room has the best views in the House and has steps out to the garden where there are 2 large tables to seat 14. A Studio/Playroom at the back of the House works as a further less formal sitting area or a prep kitchen for outside caterers. A door from the Playroom leads to a barbecue area. There are 4 principal bedrooms and 2 additional bedrooms allowing for a maximum of 10 guests. (The house is large and could sleep many more than this but we limit occupancy to 10 so that every guest has space to lose themselves as well as different spaces to be all together). All the bedrooms have really comfortable beds with hotel quality bedlinen to ensure you relax completely. Being on the Killarney National Park, the stunning views have been protected from development: from the house you can see across the lake and mountains for miles with no sign of human habitation other than Ross Castle, a restored ruin beautifully lit for your benefit at night. The estate covers over 100 acres with many private walks. Boat trips and fishing can be arranged from your doorstep and the surrounding area has fabulous walking, climbing, cycling, horse riding, golf, fishing and entertainment facilities. The current house was built in 1869 for the family of the present owners, kinsmen of Daniel O'Connell ('the Liberator'). The family's occupation of the site goes back about 900 years. On the Estate (but away from the House), the owners make their award winning Liberator and Lakeview Single Estate Whiskeys and samples are always available for guests to try!
