Ideal as a base to explore all the southeast has to offer, Dunbrody centre, JFK PARK , hook light house many beaches it’s a 20 minute drive to Waterford , 30 to wexford and 35/40 min drive to Kilkenny . The space Newly renovated light filled house with all modern comforts and conveniences, it has a private sunny garden with outdoor seating/ table directly off the kitchen dinning area. It is situated within a quiet, safe, well-kept family orientated housing development. It is very conveniently located with access to everything locally, Hotels, shops , cafes and all the town amenities parks playgrounds,marina. Guest access Guests have complete access to entire property. Other things to note There is plenty to see and do in the town itself , It is located within walking distance of the beautiful town park which has a great kids playground , a basketball court and a tennis court. The local marina is across the road from the town park and there is a nice river side walk along the river bank. The Dunbrody centre which is home to the famed Dunbrody ship is also a short distance and it has a lovely cafe directly over looking the river Barrow. The apex sports and leisure centre is a state of the art facility in the town which caters for both adults and kids they have a swimming pool and state of the art gym facilities they operate a pay-as-you-go so everyone is welcome. There are some lovely local cafes such as cafe nutshell , the cracked tea pot and sugar and spice just to name a few and many local pubs. There is a boutique style hotel the Kennedy Hotel located on the quay front which has Yanks steak restaurant . There is also the Brandon House hotel and spa with in walking distance of our house. They operate a pay-as-you-go system for use of the pool and gym facilities so it is open to the public call them for details. The local theatre is St Michaels theatre it has a cafe and it runs concerts and events throughout the year. It also transforms into a cinema and they show movies and at weekends they often have kids movies in the afternoons . All information on up coming events will be on their website. Mannions pub is a small local pub that serves excellent pub grub, it is located on the outskirts of the town within a 20-30 minute walk of the town centre, it’s a nice scenic walk out the ferry road and is well worth the walk for a pint and a bite to eat. There are many local supermarkets and grocery shops, super valu ,Aldi, Lidl, etc In order to explore a bit further a car would be required. There are many beautiful places to visit within a short driving distance of the town such as the Kennedy park which has a very nice children’s playground and a little shop and cafe. There are wonderful walks around the park and if you have kids bring some scraps to feed the ducks at the pond !they also have a little train ride for kids ( runs high season only) and if you don’t feel like walking you can take a ride on the horse and carriage. The Kennedy homestead in Dunganstown is a wonderful place to visit especially for those that are interested in history and John F Kennedy ancestors hail from ,(family home of the Kennedys, ) Tintern Abby has beautiful walks a walled garden and also has a nice cafe, you can take a guided tour of the Abby itself and learn all about its fascinating history . A must stop is Hook head for incredible scenery and walks . It has a cafe and you can take a tour of the Lighthouse or stretch your legs and take a walk along the cliffs for miles. Loftus hall is a fascinating and very popular place to visit and is of interest to all age groups! Take a tour of it you won’t be disappointed ... Ely’s cafe is also there... The beauty spot of St. Mullins is one of the most scenic and beautiful places in the area, don’t forget to stop into the little cafe there where they serve wonderful home baked goods and fresh produce. You can eat out side weather permitting or take your own picnic! There are many local beaches such as Duncannon, , Dollar bay , Baginbun, Grange , Boley bay, just to name a few. If you looking for activity there is an out door adventure centre located in Fethard, The Hook adventure centre caters for all outdoor adventure activities so check it out online! If golfing is your activity there is a local golf club in new Ross town and a short distance from the town we have Ballinteskin par 3 golf. You also have within driving distance Faithleg golf course ,Waterford Castle golf course and Mount Juliet golf course among many others. The famous award-winning Aldridge Lodge restaurant is located in Duncannon area so if a gourmet dining experience is on your to do list pay a visit here you won’t be disappointed . (Book well in advance! It’s extremely popular and can be difficult to get in) In Arthurstown the Dunbrody hotel has an award-winning restaurant, it’s well worth a visit and it’s also home to a very popular traditional Irish pub called ‘The local’ which is located within the grounds of Dunbrody house and it serves great food and has traditional Irish music sessions on regular basis especially at weekends, again check out their Facebook page or website. In Duncannon village you will find one of the most beautiful beaches in the area, and there are two pubs, Roches which serves fantastic food!(the prawn and monkfish curry is to die for! )and they have traditional music sessions and bands Playing on a regular basis. Just across the road the Strand tavern also serves food and holds music events. Templars Inn on the road to the Hook is another popular spot to stop off and grab a bite to eat and enjoy the scenery . If you are looking for a good fish restaurant you could get no better than the Hollow restaurant it is located near Ramascrange about 20 minute drive from Newross town. When in the Duncannon area if time allows you can take the car ferry which runs from Ballyhack to passage East in Waterford, the ferry links Wexford with Waterford and it is only a 10 min crossing! you can explore the coastal area of Waterford quite easily from here , there are many wonderful areas to explore on the Waterford side the most popular would be Dunmoreast for stunning scenery! If you get that far treat yourself to a bite to eat or a pint in the strand tavern in Dunmoreast it’s location won’t be beaten. The ferry runs daily check out its website for ferry times , it’s a great way to explore both sides of the river Suir. In the Kilkenny direction a must stop point would be the beauty spot of Inishtigoue , it is home to Woodstock house and gardens and it has many local cafes and bars that serve good food . A little further on is Thomastown another lovely little village in a beautiful setting , it has many craft and art shops, nice cafes and a very good restaurant called Bassetts ,there is also a nice children’s playground just opposite The famous Mount Juliet hotel and golf club is stunning so even to just take a drive through the estate is worth while, it is hard to find a more beautiful place, they serve wonderful food in the Hunters Lodge restaurant and the hotel is open to the public so it’s a wonderful spot to stop. The mediaeval town of Kilkenny is only 40 minute drive and there are many wonderful places to visit in the city itself , not to be missed is Kilkenny Castle and park. Take a tour of the castle and a stroll around the park and enjoy an ice cream in the surrounds of one of the most beautiful parks in Ireland. Pop across the road from the park to the Kilkenny design centre which is full of Irish art and crafts and also has a wonderful cafe. You can also take an open topped bus tour of the city or hop on the little train that goes regularly around the city. You won’t be stuck for things to do in this wonderful city! You can indulge In one of its many many wonderful restaurants Rinucinni being one of my favourites! . The coastal towns of Waterford is only 20 minutes away and Wexford 30 and the medical city of Kilkenny 40 minute drive from Newross so we are perfectly located to explore these areas.
