Cosy cottage in beautiful two-acre park

Unique cottage surrounded by a two-acre park-like garden. Guests enjoy use of the cottage, grounds, and BBQ facilities. A delightful place if you enjoy nature, and centrally located near major highways to reach major Dutch cities and tourist attractions within 30-60 minutes. Furnished and decorated in a light, summery style, using natural materials. The region is known for its stunning orchards, cute villages and fine biking routes. The space The cottage is set in a park of almost two acres. The only dwelling on the land, other than the Diefdijk Cottage, is our house. In addition there sits a stable with thatched roof, and a BBQ area. The park is bordered on two sides by water, with one channel running through the garden creating a small and picturesque island, where you can snuggle on a blanket shaded by our huge, ancient trees. The cottage itself is cozy and quaint well insulated with a modern central heating system and is nice and warm in winter. Downstairs is a large kitchen-dining room-living room space. Upstairs is on bedroom with a king size bed, and two single beds (one of which pulls out into a double if you wish), and en suite bathroom newly renovated in 2020. The cottage itself stands above a large pond. You'll feel like you're surrounded by your own moat. French doors open out from the living room to where you can sit on your own deck, over the water, and enjoy nature. To the back and side of the property is a protected nature reserve. If you enjoy wildlife, you'll definitely enjoy the wild geese, hares, rabbits, frogs, woodpeckers, kingfishers, owls, cuckoos and pheasants which often roam the park, as well as our own pets (cats, chickens, and sometimes sheep). Across the road is a lake in which you may swim, accessed via a nearby (200 meter) public pathway. Guest access You'll have full & private access to the interior of the cottage: downstairs the dining area, living room with, fully equipped kitchen, including am espresso machine. Upstairs, bedroom with three beds (king size bed, single bed, and a single bed that can also pull out into a double) and ensuite bathroom with sink, shower and WC. In the garden, feel free to wander through the whole two acre park and use any of the outdoor seating areas. You can also use the BBQ shelter and BBQ, we can provide charcoal. You can park on the driveway. The garage, our house and its veranda are private. Other things to note There are 3 different beds in the cottage - a king bed upstairs, a single bed which can pull out for use as a double also upstairs, and another single upstairs. The cottage is about 60 m2 and is a tight fit for4 adults, it's more suitable for families. Please note, at this time we do not currently offer breakfast. Especially relevant if you are biking - don't expect stores close by our house! The nearest store is 3km away in Schoonrewoerd, which is closed after 7pm weekdays / 4pm on Saturday, and doesn't open on Sunday. There are supermarkets 5-6km away in Leerdam / Culemborg, which close at 8pm, or 6pm on Sundays. There is a bar which serves food 3km away, or restaurants 5-6km in Leerdam / Culemborg.
