The House on The Bridge

The Castello di Menaggio (former castle) is history. Traffic is restricted, so very quiet, with lake view. It has a large roof-top private terrace and a balcony. A/C in main bedroom, full kitchen, dishwasher and washing machine. Common garden available (no dogs allowed in garden). A 5 minutes walk (downhill) to the center. Private parking, or ideal without a car. Absolutely no-smoking. Not even in the balcony or terrace. Town tourist tax of 3 €/person/day from March to Nov. payable on arrival. The space The house for rent is 300 years old (completely and comfortably renovated in 2002 the rooftop terrace built in 2023) and is situated in the historic Castello above Menaggio, on Lake Como just across Bellagio and Varenna. It is a bridge over a pebble stone road, a short five minute walk down to the center of Menaggio. The house has two floors. The first floor has the kitchen, dining area and the living room (with an additional sofa bed for 2) with a walkout balcony with Lake View and fireplace. The second floor has a large roof-top terrace with view on the mountains, a master bedroom, a second bedroom (with 2 single beds that can be joined into a double with at least 24 h notice) and a 3rd high bed, and a bathroom with bath/shower, wc and bidet. The house is ideal for who prefers to travel by public transportation. Menaggio is very well served by busses and boats and a main train line is just across the Lake, in Varenna, 15 minutes away by ferry. It has a private parking for one car. Strictly for non smokers. Not even outside. Airconditioning in the main bedroom. No BBQ on terrace or in garden, as smoke disturbs neighbors. No youth groups only couples or families, in the past have disturbed neighbors. Guest access Guests can access the entire house on 2 floors: main floor with kitchen and dining/living room ad a balcony with great Lake View to sit outisde. The second floor has a very large terrace with mountian view and a table to dine outside. Under the bridge guests can access the terraced garden of the owner, where they can enjoy a space with lake view, occasionally shared with other 2 guests (it is large enough to guarrantee enough privacy) to be used as a work area or as a sundeck. Other things to note The house is located in Menaggio, on the western shore of Lake Como about mid lake, just 15 min. by ferry from Bellagio and Varenna. Menaggio is one of the most important towns on Lake Como and has been a tourist attraction for a hundred years. From Menaggio central location, one can easily navigate the whole lake by public ferries. Bellagio and Varenna are only a short boat ride away.
