Description
We're inside village mountains, 10/15 mns to Troodos area by car. Ideally located 2 mns away from the heart of the village where all the restaurants and the cafeterias are. Relaxation and unique village life experience are ensured. The space The village of Mandria is located about 35 kilometers northwest of the city of Limassol and is connected with Pano Platres in the northeast, with Pera Pedi in the southeast, with Omodos in the southwest and with Agios Nikolaos in the west. ECO - TOURISM In the context of the Community Council's efforts for the qualitative upgrade of tourism in the village, it already has started its efforts for the onset of eco-tourism in the community. Eco-tourism is an ambitious plan with the participation of as many of the village's inhabitants that desire to convert their residencies into tourist lodgings, tourist shops, and traditional restaurants. All these must bear the character and the traditional environment of the community. Eco-tourism offers to the local and foreign tourists the opportunity of spending their holidays close to nature and close to the simple and hospitable people of Cyprus's countryside, becoming familiar with their manners and customs, and the traditional architectural character, trying out the traditional Cypriot cuisine and local products, and admiring the various items of folkloric tradition and craft. There is also the opportunity of being acquainted with the rural way of living and -in many instances -participating in the agrarian tasks if one so desires. In these reconditioned lodgings the tourist will immediately find a warm atmosphere that will remain unforgettable. At the same time, he/she will experience many pleasant surprises out in the wild through walks in the verdant trails, visits to historic monasteries and archaeological sites, and -generally -through the uniqueness offered by the villages of Cyprus. The village is built upon mountainous territory at an average altitude of 830 meters. Narrow, deep valleys and high mountaintops -with heights that reach up to a thousand meters -characterize the terrain of the village. The tributaries of the river Cha-potami that flow in the region fragment the landscape. Mandria receives a very high average annual rainfall, reaching up to 800 millimeters; winemaking varieties of vines, and various fruit trees (apple trees, pear trees, cherry trees, plum trees, and quince trees), as well as walnut trees, olive trees, locust trees, and almond trees are cultivated in the area. Stockbreeding is very limited in the village.
