The KAISER ERA in HIMMELREICH: Where history meets the present. 📹 Video tour: Scan the QR code in the gallery and start your tour! Experience Leipzig charm in our residence with original stucco and a four-poster bed. Contemporary comfort meets history. Top location: • 15 min to the city / 10 min to the zoo & park • “Chausseehaus” tram (2-min walk) • Direct connection to the main train station & trade fair grounds (line 16) 💼 Business Plus: Workstation with docking station, monitor, printer, and Wi-Fi ✅ Arrive, immerse yourself, feel good! The space 📜 The chronicle of 1 Blumenstraße! An imperial legend: 1813 – The French beginnings According to family legend, the forefather of the Hickethier family – pronounced “Hicke-THIER” in French, like Thierry – remained in Leipzig, Goethe's “Little Paris,” after Napoleon's defeat in the 1813 Battle of the Nations. He traded his ⚔️ saber for the Saxon way of life, and so the French soldier became a citizen of Leipzig. 1891 – The Birth: Almost 80 years later, in 1891, his great-grandson Hans Hickethier then built this house. A living heritage: A legacy that has survived generations, albeit with scars, because this house has not only survived epochs, but lived. From the fall of the Berlin Wall until the end of 2014, the builder's granddaughter lived in the “🏰 Belle Étage,” which is now available for you. Testimonies of History: When the keys were handed over, we received much more than just access: we took on the stories and relics of the past – shrapnel and bullets from World War II that had been recovered from the walls during renovations. Secrets of the GDR and the Stasi: The GDR era also left its mark on the house at Blumenstraße 1. Since it was located directly on Erich Honecker's former 🚗 official route, the house, essentially serving as a backdrop for “flourishing socialism,” never fell into disrepair like so much in Leipzig and retained its character. But hidden away, behind a bricked-up wall in the basement, there was once a Stasi 🕵️‍♀️ listening post – a silent, almost eerie witness to the Cold War. This was discovered by chance when the technology failed and "drew attention to itself." The Rebirth (2014–2016): The rebirth of Blumenstraße, as the name suggests: During the extensive renovation, we finally discovered hand-painted 🌸 floral frescoes in the stairwell beneath layers of paint. In the vestibule, these originals from the Gründerzeit period were lovingly exposed and secured – deliberately not "totally renovated", but with all traces of their changing history. Imperial splendor meets modern sophistication Today, the house once again shines in its historic splendor, from the original ✨ stucco on the high ceilings to the stately entrance area. Enjoy a symbiosis of history and the present. We have furnished the rooms with period furniture to combine modern comfort with the lifestyle of the “Kaiser era,” and we have added a “🛏️ four-poster bed.” A note for connoisseurs: You live in a vibrant, nearly 135-year-old historic building. We have gone to great lengths to preserve this heritage and ask that you please treat this place with the same respect that the Hickethier family did for generations. Guest access 🏛️ Your access: 24/7 Imperial freedom & flexibility: Forget about rigid check-in times or waiting for the host. With the “Kaiserzeit” option, you set the pace of your journey yourself. ✨ 24/7 independence: Thanks to our modern smart lock system, you have 24/7 access to your accommodation. Whether you arrive in the early afternoon or late at night, your door will open exactly when you want it to. 🔑 Keyless freedom (Keyless Entry): No heavy keyring, no worries about losing it. Your personal numeric code opens both the historic main entrance and your private residence. 🕒 Planning certainty: You will conveniently receive your personal access code via Airbnb 48 hours before arrival. This way, you can start your journey to Leipzig in a completely relaxed manner, with all the information you need. 🛡️ Smart & secure: We combine the charm of 1891 with the security of today. Each code is generated exclusively for your stay, giving you maximum privacy. Royal comfort: Enjoy the freedom to explore Leipzig completely keylessly. Whether you're sightseeing in the city, at the trade fair, jogging in the Rose Valley, or visiting the zoo, your code is your constant, invisible companion. Other things to note 📅 Important note on trade show hours and events: Leipzig really comes to life during the major trade fairs (such as the Book Fair). To ensure you can enjoy this time to the fullest, we offer our apartments on a preferential basis for groups during these periods: Full-occupancy mode: During trade fair periods or events like WGT, bookings are set to the maximum capacity (e.g., 6 sleeping places in the Résidence). Your freedom: Of course, you are also free to occupy the apartment with fewer people – you will then simply enjoy the full space and the imperial freedom all to yourselves.
