Cabin in Norway - (Krokskogen/Nordmarka/Oslo)

The cabin is located at Krokskogen, an area in Nordmarka, an hour drive north west of Oslo. Krokskogen is well known for its mystic nature and bewitching atmosphere, and wonderful hiking and skiing opportunities. The space The cabin holds a basic standard, heated with a wooden stove. There is no electricity. The cabin is either lit by candlelight or sunlight. It offers a great opportunity to log off - and on to a wilderness experience and your cabin company. The area has numerous hiking and cross-country skiing possibilities just outside the door. In any direction you will find smaller or larger lakes to swim in, and if you time it right it is a blueberry, raspberry and wild strawberry treasury. There is also a staffed cabin (Løvlia) only 1,5 km from the cabin, offering fresh waffles, baked goods, hot cocoa or a cold beer - whatever you prefer. All the smaller and larger hiking paths and skiing tracks in the area are properly marked. The well-prepared skiing tracks will take you uphill and downhill in the mysterious landscape, over larger and smaller lakes. If you follow the hiking tracks (and don´t get stuck picking blueberries or wild mushrooms), you will find scenic spots such as Gyrihaugen, Myrkgonga or Oppkuven not far away. Always remember to stop and swim, or fish. The main room of the cabin holds the kitchen and dining area on one end, and the living room on the other, allowing enough space for the guests to be together but still enjoy different indoor activities at evening time or rainy days, without feeling crowded. If you have the patience for it, slow cooking on the wooden stove while having a glass of wine in the couch is truly recommended. The two bedrooms offer space to sit back and relax with your book or take a nap after a long day outside. With no sewage or water pipes in the cabin, the toilet is a newer model outhouse toilet (but don´t worry, you won´t have to leave the cabin, only pass through the hallway to get to it). If preferred, you can walk, cross country ski or bicycle to the cabin from Oslo. Shortest route would be from Skansebakken in Sørkedalen (approx. 18 km). Longest route would be from Frognerseteren, Sognsvann or Nittedal (approx. 40-50 km). If you drive, it will take an hour from the city center of Oslo. Please note: there is no cleaning fee, as we expect you to clean before you leave, with hot water and soap. Guest access Parking lot is located 40 meters from the cabin. Fresh and clean water will be supplied upon arrival. There is a water pump just outside, but the water quality tends to shift so we always bring fresh water from the city just in case. At winter time, it is a good idea to melt snow on the wooden stove for cooking and cleaning.
