Couples Retreat in Sawley, nr Fountains Abbey

Thompson’s Cottage sits within the garden of our family home, with convenient parking available just next door at the village hall. This cosy, modern space features a bright open‑plan living area with a comfortable king‑size bed, seating for two, a well‑equipped compact kitchen with a pull‑out dining table, and a stylish bathroom with a large walk‑in shower. Sawley is a peaceful village within the Nidderdale AONB, offering a wonderfully central base for exploring the area. The space The cottage is located in the village of Sawley, just a short drive from Ripon. We’re lucky to have a great choice of pubs nearby—some just around the corner, others in the surrounding villages. Dogs are very welcome. Please remember to bring their food, water bowls, and a towel for drying off muddy paws. We can also provide additional bike storage on request. There’s an outdoor tap available for rinsing off boots or paws. We kindly ask that wet or muddy footwear is removed before entering the cottage. The cottage sits within our family garden, so it doesn’t have its own private outdoor space. However, there is a seating area at the front where you can relax in the sun—outdoor table and chairs are provided Guest access The cottage had plenty of parking, in front of the village hall. Having a car is essential as we are not near public transport links or shops. Bring your bikes! It’s a fabulous way to get around the area and enjoy the scenery we have to offer. Access to the cottage will sent in a separate message nearer your check in date. Other things to note The cottage is compact—larger than a camping pod or shepherd’s hut—but still a small, cosy space. Although it doesn’t have its own private garden, you’ll have access to the lovely large village green, a beautiful wildlife garden right in front of the cottage, and footpaths that lead straight out into the fields. The cottage is set up for two people only. A few couples have brought a small baby and a travel cot, but please let me know in advance if this applies to you. Occasionally, there may be an event taking place in the village hall, which can make parking a little busier. If you’re ever unsure about where to park, just give me a shout. I always try to let guests know ahead of time if an event is scheduled, though it doesn’t happen very often
