Lua Branca, the magical paradise

Quinta Lua Branca, a magical estate in the Serra de São Mamede Natural Park. This quiet and inspiring place offers accommodation for retreats or small groups and individual guests who love tranquility, nature, rest, luxury and comfort. The space Casa João Casa João is an atmospheric & cozy wooden guest house, suitable for up to 4 people. The cottage stands at the edge of the forest and offers lots of privacy. The large covered porch has a magnificent view over the valley and the mountains of Spain. The house includes a living room with a well equipped kitchen , two double bedrooms , a spacious loft with sleeping for 2 extra people (on demand) and a bathroom. Bed linen, kitchen linen and towels are provided. Basic ingredients for preparing meals such as salt, pepper, spices, olive oil, vinegar, coffee, tea and sugar are also provided. Description of Quinta Lua Branca . The quinta, built around 1827 , is a beautifully authentic and fertile property consisting of spacious terraces covered with a rich variety of trees and plants. Clean air and abundant potable , clear water make this property a true paradise . Crickets, buzzing bees, chirping birds , with somewhere in the distance the sound of tinkling bells of sheep and goats are typically familiar sounds . High in the sky a bird of prey in search of prey . Spring ensures an exuberant colourful splendour of wild flowers and plants . The wealth of trees give plenty of shade which is especially very pleasant in the hot summer months. In all these sounds and abundance you experience a kind of quiet rest, so you retrieve ear and eye for the beauty and abundant blessing of nature. The high altitude , the view over the valley and the mountains is impressive. In the night hours there are also impressive views of the spectacular starry sky and the moon creates a mysterious lit atmosphere . The quinta also owes her name to this strikingly bright moonlight. The medieval town of Portalegre is situated on the other side of the mountain and is accessible by foot or car within easy reach . Until the purchase in 2008 Quinta Lua Branca was deserted and overgrown, waiting for a new owner with an eye and heart for this hidden paradise. That's how a project with the aim of creating a center for concious (well)being and inspiration came into existence. In October 2010 the go-ahead was given for a thorough restoration and renovation of the main house, the servant house and a large ruin that once served as a stable . All this with care and attention for detail , harmony , beauty and ( eco ) quality with respect for the architecture of the farmhouse and its surroundings . Meanwhile, the main house is occupied , the servant house transformed into a comfortable guest house and the ruins rebuilt as a large group room. Below the main house is the old winery made into ​​a guestroom. In the shadow of the forest are two additional wooden guesthouses built . There is a swimming pool with an adjoining indoor lounge / relaxation area with fireplace and a rear covered outdoor kitchen with barbecue . Guest access The guests will have acces to the swimming pool, loungehouse with outdoor kitchen and barbecue, gardens and the old waterplace. Common room in Casa Lua (​​groupbuilding) for breakfast and internet. There is also a special area for yoga and meditation. Yoga mats and meditation cushions are provided. Other things to note We serve a 'continental breakfast' which consists of coffee / tea, freshly squeezed orange juice or a superfood smoothie, yogurt, granola, fresh bread, eggs made to order, assorted cheeses and home-made jams.
