This 'jewel' is ideal for a one person, or for two people seeking either a relaxing break or a high activity holiday, or both! The space The Cottage is a truly beautiful space. It features a luxury king-size bed, a luxury private bathroom with raindrops shower and bath, a sitting area with an electric crystal fire, a fabulous fully equipped modern kitchen, Sky TV, dedicated WI-FI, underfloor heating throughout, triple glazed windows, solar panel controlled black out blinds and a front half- ( stable) door overlooking tidal Killala Bay with full tides and amazing wild life and birds at low tide. Guest access There is a private patio with table, comfortable wicker chairs, other seating and a simple barbeque and separate fire pit . Behind the Cottage is private (not public) field with picnic area, and garden swing for guests to use - shared with the owners family, that gives unrivalled views of the sea, Killala Bay and Bartragh Island. There is ample private free parking. Other things to note Quay Cottages is a real gem. It is an ideal holiday home for an individual person or for two people, for those who want to relax in a beautiful place and equally good for those who enjoy outdoor pursuits. The cottage is a stroll away from the village of Killala with great pubs, cafe and an excellent restaurant. There is also: a supermarket, chemist, post office, take away, hairdresser, bicycle and fishing hire. Banks and larger stores are 15 minutes away in Ballina. In Ballina there is also a terrific range of restaurants - from dinner in the lovely Belleek Castle to great food at the award winning Ice House Spa & Hotel and Mount Falco. Quay Cottage is a perfect base to explore the North Mayo section of the Wild Atlantic Way, the Ceide Coast and the historical archaeology of this area including Killala's ancient Round Tower, Killala Cathedral and three local abbeys: Rathfran, Moyne and Rosserk. Local beaches and waterways offer swimming, sailing, kayaking, 'paddle and peddle' and excellent surfing. There are mountain and forest walks nearby, with bikes for hire - especially for cycling on the nearby Greenway - guided foraging walks and the unmissable Victorian sea-weed baths at Enniscrone. The River Moy in Ballina offers salmon fishing on the premier salmon fishing river in Ireland. And Killala Harbour gives access to the sheltered and very productive waters of Killala Bay where fishing boats provide superb opportunities for sea-angling. In addition there are three arts centres that are easily accessible to Killala, with extensive programmes in theatre visual arts and music. Best of all, savour the warm welcome in the local pubs, with great food, especially sea food, and regular live music. Other services are in the county town of Castlebar and Westport approximately 40 miles away.
