Maiensäss Ratschon: Pure nature with a view Welcome to Maiensäss Ratschon, a lovingly renovated mountain hut above Untervaz in Graubünden. Located at almost 1,100 meters above sea level and far away from everyday life, with a fantastic view of the Grisons Rhine Valley, an authentic place awaits you to switch off, recharge and breathe deeply. Please read the description to the end so you know what to expect. The space The Maiensäss has two lovingly furnished bedrooms on the upper floor – one with a 140 cm wide double bed and one with a bunk bed. The kitchen on the ground floor is simply equipped, but offers everything you need: a gas stove with four burners, hot water, an oven and a refrigerator. In addition, the kitchen is equipped with dishes, glasses, cutlery, bowls and cooking pots, etc. as well as a selection of spices and coffee powder or instant coffee and tea. A toilet in the small but nice "bathroom" is available, but a shower / bathtub was deliberately omitted. However, there is an outdoor shower with hot water outside in the garden under the large linden tree. There is no Wi-Fi, but the cell phone reception is good. A solar system with 230 V (max. 1500 watts of power) and is heated with a wood-burning stove. The water comes from its own source – so it should definitely be used sparingly. Around the house there is a large area with a meadow, a fire pit and occasionally sheep or highland cattle on the adjacent pasture. Parking is available; however, the last 50 meters to the house must be covered on foot and the luggage must be carried. A driving permit from the municipality of Untervaz is required for access (more information will follow below). Guest access During the entire stay, the Maiensäss and the upper stable (with access to the firewood) are at your disposal. The Maiensäss can be reached by car or bike. If you are arriving by car, can obtain a driving permit at the bottom of the mountain road at the board or via the QR code, which we will send a few days before arrival (driving permit CHF 10.00 for 24 hours or CHF 20.00 for 168 hours (7 days). Attention, select the correct date for the validity of the permit here). Parking is available about 50 meters from the Maiensäss. The last part must be covered on foot. Other things to note The following is included or provided: 🗝️ Personal key exchange & tour with explanations 👋 Self check-out with key box 🛌 Bed linen 🧼 Towels, bath towels & face cloths 🧴 Wash cloths & drying wipes 🪵 Firewood 🧂 Small selection of spices, teas, and coffee 🧹 Final Cleaning The minimum stay is 5 nights by default. Shorter stays are also possible upon request and subject to availability. When it gets fresh outside, it's also cool in the Maiensäss. The wood-burning stove warms the Stübli nicely, but in the rest of the house it stays a little fresh. Bring warm clothes and cozy socks. With us, dogs can also feel at home! The surroundings invite you to explore and romp around – you just can't jump on the beds. Other pets are not permitted. This is a place surrounded by nature. And that means: You may be visiting a spider or a bug. We pay attention to cleanliness – but we live here with nature, not against it. Please remember to bring enough drinking water, as the water from the pipe - both indoors and on the fountain outside - is not intended for drinking. However, the water is great for cooking and brushing your teeth. The nearest supermarket is about 10 minutes drive away (follow in Untervaz). We provide you with a "paid garbage bag" free of charge for your garbage. Other bags can be purchased either directly through us or in the Volg in Untervaz.
