It is 14 m² and includes a double bed (160 cm), a small refrigerator, and a small seating area. A crib or an additional mattress can also be placed here. Guest access PETS Dogs/Cats are welcome - We love animals, but not in furniture or beds. We prefer that they are in cages at night and they must not be left alone in the cabin unless they are in cages. Dogs can of course swim in the lake, but other swimmers must be taken into account. This is especially true for the small beach and when there are children in the beach area. We recommend that dogs swim from the mountain or between the jetty to the skipper's house and "Tønsbergbrygga". SWIMMING: There is a nice little beach right down the road from the cabin and you can swim from the jetties. With the exception of the jetty to the Skipper House, all three can be used, and it is deep enough to dive from all. (dive straight ahead and -a little- outwards) The jetties are partly private partly common to several cabins and they should not be used to store equipment or as private bathing & sun places. (There are very nice rocks to lie on and sunbathe from.) There are a number of smaller children in the area, so please take a little extra consideration of these in relation to the small beach. So far there have been few Pacific oysters in the area, but they have occurred. Tread carefully if you swim and are going up the mountain. FISHING: There are some sea trout that bite on the bait/fly rod for those who are eager, otherwise it is mostly active crab fishing. (equipment can be borrowed/made) SHOP Bunnpris on Rød/Asmaløy. Not further than you can walk over the bridge but remember to bring a backpack. Ødegårdskilen on Vesterøy by car: Rema, Kiwi, Coop, Pharmacy and Øy-kroa HELP and SAFETY Fire extinguisher is located inside the hallway. Water hose and tap in "technical room" under the cabin. The cabin address is Holmetangen 47, if you need to call for help. The nearest emergency room is on Kråkerøy (Fredrikstad) across from Fredrikstad stadium. The nearest hospital is Østfold Sentralsykehus at E18 Sarpsborg/Grålum. HIKES and activities: There are very good hiking opportunities, both on Spjærøy and on Hvaler otherwise. You can walk almost everywhere lengthwise and crosswise. You will find maps in the cabin and online that show some marked trails. We recommend using marked trails where available. This also applies if you are going from the top of the island or from the cabins down to the sea to avoid getting too close to other cabin residents. Most of the cabins on Hvaler are built after the law on 100 meters border to the sea came – which means we can walk along the water around large parts of the island, which is recommended. Other things to note Of trips in the nearby area we can mention: Sand Marina – Marina with kiosk and trips in the nearby area we can mention: *Sand Marina – Marina with kiosk and outdoor seating. (Simple dinner dishes, beer & wine license) 15 min walk. *Spjærkilen/Holmenbukta - about 20 min walk. Great destination if there is a south wind, the sea comes right into the wedge and if there are big waves it can be a fun swim - In addition Holmenbukta /"Richardbukta" = beautiful long sandy beach. You can walk along the water one or both ways and the trip can be combined with Sand Marina (Round trip). *Brattestø – At the end of Asmaløy, you can see it from the cabin. You can walk across the bridge and along the road to Åsebu then along the water all the way out. *Brattestø is also a nice destination with kayak. *Kayak trip around the whole of Spjærøy takes about 4 hours for "hobby paddlers" Other nice excursion destinations by car: *Utgårdskilen on Vesterøy – Southern Norway's largest fishing port, but fresh fish sale. *Skjærhalden on Kirkøya – Municipality center, shops, restaurants and large marina. * The old town of Fredrikstad – incredibly nice fortress town to stroll around. Glasshytta (glassblower) lots of small shops and small eateries *Gourmet food? Hvaler Gjestgiveri can be recommended
