Log burner parking wifi Hartington village
Description
Blue Door is a good quality, charming detached cottage in Hartington within the Peak District national park. Built in 1740 its olde world charm includes thick limestone walls and a log burner. Pet friendly for one small dog and with private parking, Blue Door is hugely convenient situated on the way into popular Hartington village. Stunning walks, cycle tracks and village amenities on the doorstep. Two pubs, farm cafe, village shop, deli cheese shop, post office, gift shop all 3 mins walk away The space Our cottage is set back above the small road into the village by a set of stone steps and terraced front garden, allowing views over the small dale hill opposite. It has driveway parking for one large car (rare in Hartington!) plus potential on road parking opposite. The cottage has three bedrooms (it can sleep up to five people although we prefer to host a maximum of four) one good sized king, a spacious twin and a cosy single. It has the advantage of two full bathrooms, one with bath and shower the other a stone tiled wet room with rain shower and underfloor heating. The kitchen has a full size washing machine, air fryer, filter coffee maker (with complimentary ground coffee, tea, sugar etc) double oven, microwave, fridge freezer and dishwasher. The lounge has a large log burner with a good supply of logs provided and features a large exposed limestone wall above the fireplace. The TV has Freeview channels and can stream Netflix and Amazon via the Firestick, there is also a good selection of board games and books. The cottage is nearly 300 years old and is a grade two listed building. It still has many original features: the lounge has a wonderful double height ceiling with oak beams as this was the animal barn many years ago. The dining room with stone hearth seats 5 people comfortably. The rear garden (rock face) is secluded and enclosed by a farm type gate with outdoor dining table, bbq, fire pit and small patio set with solar fairy lights. Guest access The whole of the house and garden are yours to use. We won’t disturb you and live locally should you need to get in touch during your stay. Other things to note Blue Door cottage is best suited to those who enjoy the outdoors and the countryside without being completely cut off from amenities. Hartington is a picturesque village and very popular with day visitors to the famous cheese shop, cute duck pond and lovely cafes. Farm vehicles, tourists, the occasional vintage car rally and many cyclists pass through our village. Our back garden is enclosed, however the front garden although set back, is not fully enclosed therefore we would not recommend the cottage to very young children unless closely supervised. Our local pubs and restaurants are lovely and quite low key so reservations at weekends/ school holidays if dining out are advisable. There are several walking guidebooks in the property ranging from 5-25 miles from the front door. Beresford Dale and Wolfscote Dale are a 5-6 mile circular from the cottage or alternatively lace up your walking boots and carry on all the way to Dovedale via Milldale. There are also some truely fantastic gravel cycle tracks, all within 5-10 mins from the door. High Peak trail and Tissington trail are accessible from Hartington and Biggin, good quality bikes can be hired from Parsley Hay cycle centre nearby. On rainy days the pretty town of Bakewell is 15 mins by car, Buxton with its theatre and Ashbourne cinema 20 mins away as are the cable cars at the Heights of Abraham in Matlock. The spectacular Chatsworth House and thrill seekers Alton towers are only a 30 min drive away.
