La Maison des Rioux

Nestled on the edge of a peaceful hamlet, the Maison des Rioux offers a relaxing stay in absolute calm, ideal for recharging your batteries as a couple, with family or friends. You can observe deer, foxes, hares, badgers... from your windows. It is also ideally located to explore the Millevaches plateau, several sites of which, located in the municipality, are within walking distance: Les Cars ruins, the Maisons mill, the Longeyroux peat bog... The space This charming, recently renovated stone house features an equipped kitchen on the ground floor, open to a cozy living room with a wood-burning stove, as well as a bedroom and its shower room. Upstairs, a hallway leads to two bedrooms, a bathroom and a separate toilet. You will have access to the garden and the woods overlooking the house. The double beds have been carefully selected (SIMMONS brand), and the toiletries are of natural origin. Our house is an old granite building that we have renovated with respect for the old structure, preserving as much as possible the elements of historical interest. Its old woodwork and single-glazed front door, in particular, contribute to its rustic charm. Although they have been renovated, they can still let in some drafts. Thanks to the use of suitable, natural and environmentally friendly materials, the house offers a pleasant level of thermal comfort, even if it differs from that of a newer house. The stove, the terracotta floor combined with the electric underfloor heating on the ground floor, as well as the lime-hemp plasters help to limit the "cold wall" effect and create a feeling of comfort that does not depend solely on the air temperature. Supplementary radiators are also available in the bedrooms. As with any house heated mainly with wood, a longer heating time is required, and the stove must be refueled regularly to maintain a comfortable temperature on the coldest days. During the winter months, we recommend that you bring warm and comfortable clothing to make the most of your stay in the countryside. During the summer, the altitude and wooded environment of Les Rioux allow you to enjoy a naturally cool setting, especially outside, in the shade of the trees. Inside, the thickness of the stone walls and the wood-wool insulation in the attic help keep the house cool, provided that the windows and shutters are kept closed during the hottest hours and are only opened during the coolest hours, especially early in the morning and in the evening. The house thus offers a pleasant haven to cool off after a day of hiking or exploring the region. Guest access A lockbox allows you to access the cottage independently.
