Romantic mountain cabin

Welcome to this mountain cabin 6km up in the mountains in Kandal Village. Enjoy nature, food and culture at our farm while staying in one of our mountain cabins. This cabin is one of 4 cabins at our mountain farm, and we have 6 suites down in the valley at our main farm. Total we can accommodate 50 guests. We have concerts, dinners and events at the barn the whole summer. Please read about the farm at our webside and social media before arrival. The space The barn consists of a cluster of small cottages where the farmers lived while milking the animals in the old days. Today there is still milk production and dairymen here, but many of the barn cabins are now rented out. We rent out a total of 4 cabins with a capacity of about 10 guests. There are animals on the barn from about July 1 to August 15. Guest access The cabin is ready when you arrive. You must bring everything you need of food and drinks. The kitchen has cold water and gas. Prepare simple dishes for frying or cooking, and bring food that keeps well without refrigeration. The river right next to the cabin is the coldest place for storing food and drinks. You share the barn yard with other guests and the hosts. Animals roam freely outside the cabins. At Sølvane Gard there are concerts, dinners, wine tastings and events throughout the summer. See our website and social media for more info and ticket sales. Other things to note It is important that you familiarize yourself with the stay at Støylen before you arrive. Støylen is a very unique place to stay. There is no electricity or mobile/internet coverage on the mountain cabin, this is far up in the mountains. Guests must pass a toll road on the way up to Støylen. Pay NOK 50 in cash or with vipps at the gate. If you are larger groups or families, we have 5 cabins for rent on the mountain pasture. In total, we can accommodate about 15 guests on the mountain pasture and 15 down in the village in modern houses/cottages. Check-in is at Sølvane Garda, down in the village.
