Deer Cabin @ Hogwood Lodge

Set within our property in the Bath AONB, Deer Cabin is a handcrafted retreat designed for rest, light and views. One of 2 cabins on site at Hogwood Huts, it offers a peaceful escape for couples, friends or solo travellers, with countryside walks from the door, excellent local pubs nearby, and easy access to Bath, Frome and wider area. With plenty of on-property parking and a strong sense of privacy, Deer Cabin is ideal for slowing down and reconnecting with nature, without giving up comfort. The space A handcrafted cabin for two, surrounded by wildlife and Cotswold countryside. The cabin interior is finished in reclaimed wood and thoughtfully styled throughout. It features a free-standing king-size bed, comfortable sofa, storage and hanging hooks, dedicated electric water and heating systems, a fully equipped kitchen, intimate dining area, en-suite shower room, Ruark Audio DAB sound system, and unlimited Wi-Fi. The compact kitchen includes a microwave oven, two-burner electric hob, sink, fridge/freezer, toaster, kettle, coffee facilities with complimentary tea and coffee, and all essential cookware. Basic condiments such as olive oil, salt and pepper are provided, with more available on request. The kitchen enjoys a lovely west-facing view towards the Bath Downs. The en-suite bathroom offers a spacious rainfall shower, full-sized toilet and heated towel rail. Bath and hand towels are provided. The cabin is dominated by large south-facing bi-fold doors overlooking farmland towards Hinton Charterhouse. Outside, there is a partly covered deck with privacy from the neighbouring Owl Cabin, along with bistro seating, perfect for morning coffee or an evening drink. Deer are often seen passing through, owls are frequently heard at dusk, and hares occasionally race along the fence line. Red Kites are often overhead, and in Spring we usually have a pair of nesting Kestrels near the house. Guest access There are two cabins on site and these are positioned away from Hogwood Lodge itself to maximise privacy and views. Parking is directly in front in our parking area - please park in the area closest to the cabins turning right to a stop in front of the laurels/fences. There are steps leading up to the paths and cabins, all of which we are re-doing following a harsh winter. These are new cabins for us and we are working on the landscaping. The remainder of Hogwood Lodge is private but if you wish to visit the WW2 Pill Box we have, please just ask. Other things to note We are well positioned on the edge of Bath and near to Frome and Bradford-on-Avon. There are footpaths from the property along the road and across farmland. It’s an easy and scenic walk to: • The Hope & Anchor, Midford (1 mile) • The Inn at Freshford (2 miles), beside the River Frome A short drive brings you to several excellent pubs, including: • The Packhorse, Southstoke • The Wheelwrights Arms, Monkton • The Wheatsheaf, Combe Hay (with a wonderful open fire) There are 2 pubs in Hinton Charterhouse (2 minutes drive or 20 minute counrty path walk) There are pubs in Norton St. Philip (The George is one of the oldest in the UK), and interesting food at Castle Farm - a 25 minute walk along or 5 minute drive. Bath city centre is just over 10 minutes away by car, and Frome around 15 minutes. Shops near by: - Hinton Charterhouse Post Office and Village Shop (contact Roger who is super helpful). Limited selection. 20 minute cross-country walk or 2 minute drive. - Freshford Galleries Community Shop. Boutique selection. 25 minute cross-country walk or 5 minute drive - Co-op Norton St Philip. Good selection - many needs covered. 6 minute Drive. - Tesco Esso Express. Service Station (nearest fuel). Reasonable selection. < 10 minute drive - Sainsbury's Odd Down. Supermarket. <10 minute drive Transport: The D2/x bus runs frequently from Bath Bus/Train station to Midford / Hinton Charterhouse, where we are, and on to Frome... and return. The easiest public transport to Bradford-on-Avon is by local train from Freshford, which is a lovely 25 minute walk from us. Taxis are easy and frequent. Approx. £13 each way into/out of Bath. Walking and cycling into Bath is easy too... a very interesting hour-long walk into Bath, or access via the 2 Tunnels. We are also <1 mile from the cycle path which takes you to Bath, Bristol.
