Brindi Hideaway Although part of the hustle and bustle of Queanbeyan's long established light-industrial precinct, this hidden little gem could be a world away. It offers a private, safe, fully- fenced courtyard with an abundance of plants and a separate entrance, as well as off -street parking. Its location offers views over Canberra, with its backdrop of the Brindabella mountain range, and it is attached to a working Knitwear and Textile Art studio which may be toured by appointment. The private, sunny garden courtyard with outdoor kitchen is absolutely perfect. This delightful place is very close to everything Canberra has to offer - eg Fyshwick markets, Kingston, Manuka, nature, the Lake etc. I have no hesitation in recommending this lovely place to family and friends. Alice is the perfect host - thank you! " There is an enclosed Outdoor Kitchen area with Electric table top Grill, Toaster, Sandwich maker, and single Induction cooker . Please note the Outdoor Kitchen is not heated. It is not a full Kitchen but has portable appliances to cook on. Inside is a compact space for relaxing with a well- equipped kitchenette featuring Microwave, Kettle, Crockery, Cutlery, Fridge, Pots and Pans, Espresso Stove -Top Coffee Pot, Bowls, Condiments . There is an iron and ironing board, broom, bucket and mop, Air-Con for heating and cooling, Air Purifier, and Fan. There is a separate Bedroom with Double bed ( it’s quiet like a small cave ) and Electric blanket ( in winter ) which sleeps two. The leather sofa folds out to a second double- bed , suitable for young children Please note that the sofa bed needs to be folded up to comfortably use the kitchenette. Please also note the space is better suited to a couple, two singles, or a family with two small children. There is a small TV with DVD player, Reverse Cycle Air Conditioner with Heating and Cooling, Fan, Board Games, Toys available for young children , Books, extendable dining- table seating 4 , Ensuite Bathroom with Hairdryer, Shower and Toilet and a small Washing Machine with a clothes line in the garden area. Breakfast ingredients are provided for the first day including Toasting Bread, Cereals, Butter, Milk, and Fruit. Extra Breakfast, Gourmet or BBQ hampers with local produce may be provided at moderate cost if requested a minimum of 2- days in advance of arrival. Menu list and prices will be provided at time of booking. The sunny Courtyard is fenced, secure and private, with a craftsman -built lockable gate, and features a wooden dining setting, an abundance of plants, and views over Canberra. It is a lovely place to relax, read a book and take in some sun, away from the cares of the world. Look for the visiting native Blue- banded bees ! The courtyard is fringed by tall trees which add to privacy and provide shade on hot days. There is easily accessible, off- street parking at the front of the unit Many fixtures and features are hand- crafted by a local artisan, and may be commissioned by arrangement. Guest access The whole apartment is available for guests with Free easy parking The adjoining warehouse units are all owner-occupied by quiet, respectful human beings Other things to note The location is suitable for a couple, singles or a small family (ie two adults and two young children). The apartment has a separate private entrance, separate driveway and private off -street parking. It is the ground floor section of the Caretaker's Residence, which is located at the front of a quiet Owner-operated warehouse complex. The warehouse complex is situated in a light industrial precinct so there is potential for moderate daytime traffic noise mostly during morning and afternoon peak hour during the week. There may also be a variety of sounds from workshops in the neighbourhood, but most evenings are calm and tranquil. Nearby there is a gymnasium, Fortitude, located at 181 Gilmore Rd. It has no set- up fees or contracts and is available for casual use from 9 am - 7 pm. There is a friendly takeaway Cafe within a 5- minute walk (Tommy Tuckers) which is open weekly during Business Hours. A dry- cleaning service is 5- minutes walking distance away, and laundromat facilities approx 10 mins drive at Karabar shopping centre. Garryowen Park located on the highest point in the residential area adjoining to, and to the east of the area, has extensive Canberra views and is a great walk for daily exercise. There are no constructed footpaths in the immediate vicinity, but rather well -worn tracks. Queanbeyan's shopping centre with all major stores including Woolworths, Coles, Kmart, Aldi, " The Q" Theatre Complex , several Restaurants in Crawford St , parks and the Queanbeyan River walk ( platypus sightings !) are approx 5 mins drive away. Kmart, and Coles in Riverside Plaza, in Collet St are both open weekly until 10 pm. Canberra International Airport is 10- 15 mins drive and the trendy restaurant strip of Kingston foreshore, Old Bus Depot Markets and Manuka's upmarket shopping area is located approx 10 mins drive away, as is the Fyshwick Fresh Food Market and Fyshwick Seafood market. Canberra’s Outlet centre is located 5 minutes drive away at Fyshwick on Canberra Avenue, a Mecca for furniture shops, footwear and clothing. Similarly, Majura Park Shopping Complex near Canberra airport is approx 15 min drive away with megastores such as IKEA and Costco. The Old Bus Depot Market on Wentworth Ave Kingston is a Canberra institution for local and interstate Artisans . Unique wares -fully designed and created in Australia, gourmet produce, and beautiful cooked meals may be found there. A great place for Sunday Brunch ! Open Sundays 10-2 ( closed for about 2 weeks after Christmas ) Canberra’s iconic eatery : Brodburger is located behind the Glasshouse which is located in Canberra’s historic former power station building. CIVIC, Canberra's city centre, Parliament House, National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, High Court, Zoo, National Museum, Australian War Memorial, Questacon, Lake Burley Griffin are all approximately 15 -20 mins drive straight down Canberra Avenue. The beautiful Australian Botanic gardens and Arboretum are within a half hour’s drive away. Mt Ainslie is well worth a drive to the top to get a great overview of the Canberra region, about a 20 min drive In Winter it is often possible to drive to the snow, about 40 minutes away at Corin Forest, on Corin Dam Rd , Paddy’s River, where there is also an Alpine Slide suitable for all ages. Tidbinbilla is a beautiful nature reserve with hiking and abundant wildlife, also at Paddy’s River, and the CSIRO Deep Space Complex is well worth a visit. The mighty Murrumbidgee River has several swimming holes at various locations along its length, some with sandy beaches. The peaceful village of Bungendore with its Craft Shops, galleries and cafes is a 30- minute drive along the Kings Hwy. (B 52 ) Two cats and six chickens also reside on the property and are kept fenced separately. You may hear the chickens cackle as they’ve laid their egg. The Studio, Showroom and Workshop of Nullarbor Nights Knitwear (@nullarbornightsartisanknitwear) is housed in one of the warehouse units and may be visited with a little advance notice. A variety of hand-crafted knitwear, gifts and jewellery is available for sale, and exhibition work is on view, including the hand-made wool felt made by Nullarbor Nights Knitwear in 2024 and used in the Coronation gift for the King and Queen by Glass Artist, Peter Crisp “ I have lived here for over ten years now having firstly been a tenant since setting up my workshop in 2006, and love the location , with all its quirks.” Alice Registration Details Exempt
