Characterful 18th century 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom cottage in a very convenient location on main bus routes to the Airport, beautiful St Brelade’s beach, St Ouen’s bay with its Atlantic surf and glorious sunsets, St Aubin with lovely restaurants, Portelet bay with a great dog friendly pub & to St Helier where buses connecting to the rest of the island are available. (So no needto hire a car !) Parking for 1 car available. ‘Haute Colline’ sleeps 6. Very sunny rear patio garden. Dogs welcome The space ‘Haute Colline’ is one of two old railway cottages ; the property next door was the Stationmaster’s house. The house is stylish but retains lots of its original features. The generous living areas run the length of the property on one side with a lounge that leads to a dining area and on to a conservatory that opens into a sun-trap rear patio garden that has a large outdoor dining table that seats 6. On the other side of the central hallway there is a downstairs double bedroom, a kitchen with a gas hob and an electric oven and a passageway leading to the downstairs bathroom which has a small but surprisingly comfortable bath and a separate shower unit. Upstairs are 2 large double bedrooms ( one with a bed that can convert to 2 single beds) and a shower & WC wet room. Pets are welcome and there plenty of dog walking area nearby. Woodbine Stores is a close-by convenience grocery shop and larger supermarkets are situated at Red Houses which is a 5 minute drive away. Haute Colline is a great location to explore the beauty of the west of the island. St Brelade Bay is close by with its gorgeous sweep of golden sands , great restaurants and a beautiful parish church with a historic Fisherman’s chapel. To the south is Ouaisne ( pronounced Wayney ) beach with a great dog friendly pub ‘ The Smuggler’s Inn . St Ouen’s bay on the five mile road with its extensive sand dunes and amazing Atlantic coast is a peaceful alternative. Surf boards can be hired and lessons booked in the bay near El Tico which is a popular place to eat brunch. La Braye is also great to eat at the southern end of the bay. Please take care to swim between the flags where the lifeguards monitor the surf as riptides in this bay can be dangerous. (St Ouen is pronounced St One ) You can walk down to St Aubin via Mont Arthur (or take a bus as parking there can be scarce) where you’ll find St Brelade Parish Hall & a wealth of shops and restaurants and pubs to enjoy including The Old Court House which was the original Bergerac’s favourite haunt. Return by bus as the hill is rather steep but if you enjoy hiking then the coastal path will provide a challenge - explore it around the south west and you’ll find yourself at Corbiere lighthouse with a good pub / restaurant ‘Corbiere Phare’ nearby. Do watch out for the local tides as you could be caught out by how quickly the sea changes. Guest access The whole house is available for guests to use. There’s parking for one car in the yard used by my neighbours to the east of Haute Colline. Access for bikes to the garden at the rear of the property from a drive that belongs to my other neighbours to the west. There’s one bedroom on the ground floor and two further bedrooms on the upper floor with a shower /WC wet-room. One of there’s bedrooms has a bed that converts to 2 singles if required. Other things to note Parking for one car is permitted in the yard used by my neighbours off Les Mont Les Vaux. Bikes can be parked in the rear patio garden; access to this is via a driveway that belongs to my other neighbours which is opposite the convenience shop ‘ Woodbine Stores’ on La Route de Noirmont.
