Home in Jädraås

The hen house is very beautifully located by Jädraån/Hyttdammen. The building, which is part of STF Jädraås Manor, has two double rooms and two single rooms, a well-equipped kitchen (kitchenette) and a lounge as well as toilet and shower. If you like outdoor life, there is an incredible amount to do in Jädraås - hiking, running, biking MTB or road, paddling, fishing or just wandering around in the beautiful cultural-historical environment. In winter, there are super nice cross-country ski trails and it only takes about 10 minutes by car to go to Kungsberget. The space The hen house *) is a building with two floors and the entrance located on the upper floor is reached via a short staircase. On the ground floor there are three bedrooms (one double bedroom and two single bedrooms) and a living room. The entire apartment has wood-paneled walls and gives a very cozy and charming impression. In the living room there are seating furniture as well as a larger table with chairs and windows overlooking the water and the bathing jetty, which is about 30 meters from the building. A beautifully designed staircase leads to the lower floor **) which gives a completely unique impression with its amazing slagstone walls ***). There is a double bedroom with a beautiful window that provides lovely light through the meter-thick slagstone wall. Downstairs, there is a smaller, but functional and well-equipped kitchen that includes two fridge-freezer combinations, shelf for dry goods, stove with fan, microwave, dishwasher, glass, porcelain and cutlery. There is also a toilet with sink and shower. There is also a small seating area with chairs and tables as well as a window alcove where you can enjoy a good book and a cup of coffee. *) The hen house was once just a hen house, at least upstairs. In the double room, there is actually a chicken hatch in the wall. **) The ground floor was originally used as a kind of above-ground cellar and potatoes, root vegetables and fruit were stored there. ***) Slag stone is a uniquely colored, glassy by-product of iron production in blast furnaces and cast in molds for use as a building material. It was manufactured from the 18th century to the mid-20th century and is today considered an important cultural-historical material in buildings such as outbuildings, walls and house foundations. The shimmering stone often has blue, green or grey shades that depend on minerals in the ore and pieces of slag stone are also used today for jewelry. The slag stone in the Henhouse, as well as in other places on the site, was cast in Jädraås Hytta, which was in operation between 1858 and 1930, with a heyday around 1914-1930, when it had double blast furnaces, the forge was operated for a little over a decade before it was closed in 1942. Facts: Start: The cabin was built during the years 1856-1857, and was put into operation in 1858. Heyday: 1914-1930 the mill was at its largest, with extensive extensions, including a large Lancashire forge (1905) and improved transport by rail. Closure: The blast furnace stopped for good on August 22, 1930. The forge: The forge continued to operate until 1942. Present: Jädraås Hytta och smedja is today a well-preserved industrial memory, open to visitors, and has been designated as the Industrial Memory of the Year 2020. Guest access Our guests in the Hönshuset have access to the entire upper floor (entrance floor) as well as the entire lower floor (with the exception of a small cleaning storage space behind the stairs), i.e. the guests have individual access to the entire building. In the facility's garden, there are a number of areas with seating and guests in the Hönshuset also have access to these as well as to the facility's own bathing jetty. Secure bicycle storage in metal containers with camera surveillance both inside and outside the container, as well as professional bicycle washing is included for guests. In winter, guests have access to a hay barn and this also serves as ski storage. The facility has a number of grills that are lent free of charge to the guests who buy charcoal and/or briquettes at the facility. Optional extras at additional cost: Wood-fired sauna and wood-fired hot tub, both located near the water. It is also possible to rent MTBs, fatbikes, canoes, kayaks and SUPs (Stand-Up-Paddleboards). We also offer courses in MTB as well as guided tours and cultural-historical guided tours in the amazing building Jädraås Hytta. The facility also has a mini golf course. Firewood bags are available to buy, in winter you can rent complete ice fishing equipment.
