Habermehl Lake House Retreat

Habermehl Lake House Retreat is a little piece of heaven out in the country, only minutes away from the town of Hanover. It is a spacious lake front property for family and friends to connect, relax, and unwind. All seasons are beautiful at the lake house with a variety of activities to enjoy. You won’t be disappointed! The space Habermehl Lake is a quiet, private lake with a handful of permanent homes and the rest are seasonal properties. In the summer months, it is a great place to swim, fish, kayak, paddle board, canoe, hike or bike. The lake has great fishing (mostly bass and pike) with a “catch and release” policy. When not on the water, you can lounge around on the large deck or screened in porch, or hang out down by the water and fire pit. The sunsets are spectacular and are definitely worth mentioning! There are nearby hiking trails at Allan Park (10 minute drive) as well as shopping, grocery stores and restaurants in the town of Hanover. In the winter months, it is a perfect place for cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling (with close access to the snowmobile trails and the Hanover/Neustadt Snowmobile Club). We are approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes away from Blue Mountain Ski Resort in Collingwood. The indoor living area (kitchen/dining/living room) is super spacious with a total open concept layout. There are big picture windows to let in lots of natural light and to enjoy the beautiful lake views. There is plenty of room for family and friends to gather, eat, socialize, hang out, and have fun! The lake house has plenty of room to sleep 10-12 people comfortably. The extra-large master bedroom on the main floor has a king bed, single trundle bed, propane fireplace, large walk in closet (with washer/dryer) and a cheater full piece on-suite. On the lower level floor there is a large open concept rec room/bedroom space with walkout access to the patio, fire pit and lake front. There is a queen bedroom (separated by a large divider), a bedroom with a queen bed and futon, as well as two single beds located in the rec room living space. There is a full piece bathroom as well as additional sleeping options on the second futon and blow up queen air mattress. For an additional fee, a pontoon boat cruise on the lake, and/or a guided fishing excursion can be booked at the host/host family’s availability. During your stay, the host family has access to the pontoon boat. Our family is very respectful of our guests and walk down the side of the hill to get to the boat. Don’t be alarmed if you see host Tammy or her young adult kids going out on the boat. Please do not go on the pontoon boat or use any of the fishing poles/tackle that are on the boat or in the boat house. If you have brought your own fishing poles and tackle, you are more than welcome to fish off the dock or go out fishing in the paddle boat, green boat, canoe, or kayaks. Boats are not permitted to be brought in by our guests. If you have a trolling motor to bring, it can be used on the green fishing boat. There is a trampoline to enjoy, and a variety of lawn games located in the boat house. There are several board games, cards, and puzzles as well. In the past, the lake house has been used as a small wedding venue, bridal/wedding party stays, bachelorettes, wellness retreats, family reunions, business/work retreats, and short term stays in the off season (2-3 months) during home renovations. No fireworks No boats brought in Fishing is catch and release only Firewood is provided Depending on the season, there are two water systems used (well and lake). The water is UV filtered and safe to drink. There are also water jugs provided if preferred. Our neighbours are kind and lovely people!
