Casa Matilda

La Casa de Matilda is a new, light-filled, spacious home surrounded by a large, private garden. It is ideal as a base for exploring Oaxaca but it is also a destination on its own, great for lounging and relaxing in the sun, reading a book in the backyard hammock, or grilling fresh food from the local market. You will be the only guests, so the house and garden will be all yours to enjoy. The space The kitchen has open floor plan with lovely views of the garden and a big door leading directly to the terrace, making it ideal for entertaining. It comes fully equipped with coffee maker, coffee grinder, blender, citrus juicer, juice extractor, toaster and an electric grill. The house has two bedrooms, each with its own full bathroom. It also has a studio – which is next to a half bathroom -- that can double as an extra bedroom. From the back yard, you can see Oaxaca’s surrounding mountains, and depending on the season you can even pick fresh fruit from the mango, lime and banana trees. In our classes, you will be able to learn to cook anything from traditional Oaxacan desserts to Thai food. Other things to note Our house is not in the downtown area, a short cab ride will get you there in 15 minutes. Extra guests (more than 4) pay an extra fee of $300 pesos per night. If the number of guests requires it, we can add extra mattresses in the floor or a playpen for babies.
