The outdoor space is designed for slow, simple living, with a firepit for cozy evenings, a fenced yard, and an outdoor dining area ideal for long lunches or sunset dinners. Inside, you’ll find all the modern conveniences, including a fully equipped kitchen with oven, microwave, and fridge (including carrots to feed the pony), plus thoughtful touches like a hair dryer, TV, a tea/coffee station, and a record player with Bluetooth connectivity. For quieter days, there’s a selection of board games, puzzles, and books to help you truly switch off and relax. Located just a short drive from the township of Canungra (7 minutes)—the gateway to the stunning Scenic Rim, local vineyards, scenic hiking trails (O'Reilly's is a 35 minute drive), and unique country experiences, The Darlington is the ultimate country escape. Named by Lonely Planet as one of the world’s hottest destinations, the Scenic Rim is celebrated for its breathtaking landscapes, vibrant food and wine scene (O'Reilly's Vineyard is a 2 minute drive, Albert River Wines is a 15 minute drive) and strong sense of community. It’s a place where nature, culture, and authenticity come together—offering a truly special escape from the everyday. Whether you’re here to explore, attend a wedding, or simply slow down (a heads up that WiFi isn’t available yet and phone reception can be a bit patchy here—it works, just not like in town—it’s part of the peaceful hinterland experience!), this little country haven is the perfect place to do it. Guest access Guests have full and exclusive access to the homes' two bedrooms, open plan living/dining/kitchen area, single bathroom (dual access from each bedroom), and outdoor space, which includes an enclosed backyard. Please be aware there are steps into the bathroom and steps to the larger backyard. There is one storage room attached to the main house (with its own separate entry) that guests cannot access (your hosts will not access this storage space during your stay to ensure your peace and privacy are upheld). The home is surrounded by five acres of mostly flat and mostly cleared paddocks, which you are welcome to enjoy (whilst being mindful of local wildlife). Guests can use the extra-high carport to store their vehicle/caravan. Other things to note Phone service/reception can be imperfect. Telstra is the most reliable, the other service providers do not get great reception. Starlink is coming, but not yet available. There is a pony and a cow on the acreage: their access to the home is limited to the rear beyond the enclosed backyard. However, please be mindful of them and other local wildlife: fireworks are strictly prohibited. You are welcome to feed them the occasional carrot (provided) and/or give the pony a brush and pat (brush available). The backyard is suitable for small to medium dogs, and is certainly not suitable for high jumpers or escape -artists. Pets must be kept contained to the home and backyard, and supervised at all times, or if outside the fenced area they must be on a lead. Facilities/amenities for pets include food/drink bowls, poop bags, leads, pet towels, pooper scooper, and pee mats. Please use the amenities to clean up after your pet. Both bedrooms have large walk-in wardrobes that can comfortably accommodate a cot/bassinet. If you require amenities for a baby, please send an enquiry, and we will endeavour to facilitate your needs. The road to The Darlington, Lamington National Park Road, is not suitable for walking as there are no sidewalks.
