A Boutique Cotswolds Retreat, Newhouse Cottage
A Boutique Cotswolds Retreat, Newhouse Cottage
Description
A special stone cottage built in the 1750s, sitting in the Cotswolds AONB in the village of Leafield. With a real focus on design, a lot of thought has gone into making it feel luxurious yet genuinely like home. Leafield sits high up in the Cotswold Hills, surrounded by what's left of the ancient Wychwood Forest. It's quiet yet you're never far from anything with Chalbury at your doorstep, and Daylesford and Soho Farmhouse only 20 minutes away. The space Newhouse Cottage takes its name from its origins, believed to have been built in the 1750s as an infill between two neighbouring properties. It is a characterful cottage with original beamed ceilings and thick stone walls that give it a warmth you notice as soon as you arrive. Inside, the cottage has been sensitively updated to feel comfortable and considered without losing its character. Two double bedrooms are dressed in 200 thread count Egyptian cotton with hotel quality towels, and a single bathroom with both bath and shower stocked with Verden products. The living room centres around a new log burner and the kitchen has been set up thoughtfully, with a separate coffee bar stocked with Grind capsules and local Jeeves & Jericho tea for slower mornings. A mudroom-style entrance with a bench and a selection of wellies makes it easy to head straight out into the Cotswolds landscape. Outside, a generous patio makes for a lovely spot to sit out when the weather allows. The garden is a peaceful space to unwind, and guests are asked to be mindful of neighbours and keep noise levels low, particularly in the evenings. We are also unable to accommodate pets. Please also note, Newhouse Cottage retains much of its original character including low beamed ceilings and doorways that taller guests may wish to mind their heads on. We think it only adds to the charm!
