Less than 1 km away is the village of Magoito, with supermarkets, butcher, fishmonger, bakery, pastry shops and cafes, restaurants, pharmacy, laundry, stationery, boutiques, hairdresser, gym and other sports facilities, and also a good park to do picnics in the Magoito pine forest. Countryside, beaches and mountains nearby. Great to rest, to enjoy the landscape and nature and to practice outdoor sports. In addition to the many beaches in the vicinity where you can relax, enjoy sunbathing and sea bathing, surfing, windsurfing, bodyboarding, kitesurfing and sea fishing, you can also marvel at the surroundings on calm walks or on trails in several trails through enchanting landscapes through pine forests and fields close to the ocean and observe the unique fauna and flora of this region. Optimal central location as a starting point for visiting several places of interest nearby: At 2800m from the apartment (less than 3 km), you can enjoy the picturesque "Praia do Magoito" (Magoito Beach), with its hillside in petrified dune, rare in Europe. Praia do Magoito, a beach of fine white sand, has a Blue Flag, only attributed to clean beaches with high quality waters. It is also one of the richest iodine beaches in all of Europe. On the beach there are restaurants, cafés, a surf school. Here you can relax and enjoy the sun, have fun swimming, or enjoy the waves and practice surfing and bodyboarding or on windy days practicing windsurfing or kitesurfing. You can also go sport fishing, or relax and relax on the sand along the salt water of the Atlantic. The top of its steep cliffs to the south is used for the departure of paragliding flights, which on several occasions we can observe gliding smoothly in the air over the beach. With easy connection by the sand when the tide is low, we can head south from Praia do Magoito to Praia da Aguda on a pleasant walk along the sand along the sea water. Praia da Aguda is a quieter and less frequented beach, but it is not watched during the bathing season. It is also accessed by a wooden staircase installed on the cliff that connects the beach to Largo da Praia da Aguda. In 15 minutes, by car, it is very easy to go to the picturesque and romantic village of Sintra, World Heritage - Cultural Landscape of Humanity, located 11 km away, which you must visit. Lisbon, the historic and also modern capital of Portugal, is 40 km away from "Casas da Joaninha - Tojeira. Although the use of a private car is recommended, if you do not have a car, it is also very easy to go to Sintra and Lisbon by public transport. Public transport to Sintra, on the regular bus line, is available daily between approx. 7: 00-20: 00, with departures of about one hour, depending on the time of day; the bus stop at Tojeira is situated 100 meters away from Casas da Joaninha - Tojeira. The bus ride (line 444 “SCOTTURB") from Tojeira to Sintra (Portela de Sintra) is 21 minutes. From Sintra, there are buses to Parede, Estoril, Cascais, etc. From Sintra to Lisbon there is a train (CP), with a journey time of approximately 45 minutes, with departures every 20 minutes, depending on the time of day. Then you can return to Sintra by public transport, or you can take a walk back to Tojeira by walking for about two hours in the countryside, by road and by trails, near the ocean. When going from Sintra to Lisbon, by car or train (Lisbon is located about 40 km from Tojeira by road), about 25 Kms from Tojeira you pass through Queluz, an old village, where you can find and visit the Palace de Queluz (a copy of Versailles, which was started by the same architect, 18th century). Nearby, in Belas, you can taste the typical and delicious “Fofo de Belas”. On the way from Praia Grande to Cabo da Roca, we suggest you pass through Colares, a typical village also famous for its “Adega Regional”, where you can enjoy a tasting of its famous “Ramisco” and “Malvasio” wines, characteristic of this demarcated region . When leaving Colares, pass through the village of Penedo, a very old traditional village on the slopes of the Sintra mountains, with excellent exposure to the sun and excellent panoramic views of sea and mountain. And before finally heading to Cabo da Roca, pass through Almoçageme and visit the beautiful Praia da Adraga. Continuing south along the coast, you will find Guincho Beach (windsurfing, kitesurfing ...), "Farol da Guia" (scale school), "Boca do Inferno", Cascais Marina, and you can visit also the village of Cascais and Estoril. Cascais and Estoril are two cosmopolitan villages located next to the charming Tagus estuary, where we can admire their palatial buildings and breathe fresh air in their gardens and parks. Be sure to visit Casino Estoril (and its gardens), the largest casino in Europe. In another direction, to the north of Tojeira, less than 20 km away, are the picturesque Samarra beach, São Julião beach, Foz do Lizandro beach, Ericeira, Ribeira de Ilhas and Coxos beaches, highly appreciated by bodyboarders, windsurfers and kitesurfers. In this same direction, in addition to the beaches already mentioned, visit the picturesque village of Ericeira, a typical fishing village (good fish and seafood restaurants). Close to Ericeira, pass through the city of Mafra, where you can visit the monumental "Convento de Mafra" and the "Tapada de Mafra" (fenced forest area, inhabited by many animals in its natural state of wildlife, which can be safely visited on guided tours). Between Ericeira and Mafra, passing through the village of Sobreiro, we recommend especially for children the visit to José Franco's Typical Village. Going further north, you can pass by Santa Cruz beach and Supertubos beach. Visit Peniche, another typical fishing village, with many excellent seafood and fish restaurants (with Peniche's famous fish stew, roasted sardines, ...), and then visit Óbidos, a small medieval village, built by Knights Templar, protected within the castle walls and there to taste the famous “Ginja de Óbidos”, a typical liquor from the region.
