Casa Giacomina | Historic country house, pet-friendly & by the river

Discover the charm of an authentic Ticinese farmhouse dating back to 1566 in the heart of the historic center of Avegno. Carefully renovated, it combines traditional character with modern comfort. Once the home of my grandmother and her family, it still retains the authentic atmosphere of small-town life, nestled among historic alleys and just a stone’s throw from nature. From here, you can easily walk to the river, climbing and bouldering crags and areas, as well as grottoes and numerous hiking trails. The space My grandmother grew up in this house until her marriage, along with her three brothers, her sister Giacomina, and her parents. 
Already active in the vacation rental sector, my husband and I have chosen to enhance the memories and our origins in the Maggia Valley, opening the doors to guests and also allowing those who stay there to live an authentic experience. With your stay, you help keep alive the memory of the house, the people who lived there, and its identity, passing it on through time. Casa Giacomina is the third of three apartments that make up the farmhouse, arranged lengthwise. The other two apartments are inhabited year-round by residents, while Casa Giacomina has been designed for vacations (located on the right side towards the center). The apartment is spread across three floors connected internally by a spiral staircase. Ground floor: fully equipped kitchen, living room with fireplace (guests are not allowed to use it), and bathroom with toilet and sink. First floor: main bathroom with bathtub, toilet and sink, and a double bedroom with a double bed (160 x 200 cm) that opens onto a small terrace overlooking the courtyard/garden. Second floor: bedroom with two single beds (can be joined on request 2x 90 x 200 cm) and a small "Home Office" corner. 
 In front of Casa Giacomina, there is a small public path that crosses the historic center. In the garden, you will have a pergola with a stone table and a grill at your disposal, perfect for outdoor lunches and dinners immersed in the atmosphere of the village. Staying in the historic center also means rediscovering the charm of life in the past: the houses close to each other, the doors that open onto the same passageway, the children playing and the people you meet along the way. It is a place where people easily greet each other, exchange a few words as they pass by, and the daily lives of families spontaneously intertwine, creating that authentic and convivial atmosphere. ACCESSIBILITY The house is located in the historical center, on the side of the main road. If you arrive by car, you will have to park in the area reserved for the inhabitants of the historic center, about a 5-minute walk from the house (200 m), near the parking spaces of the Grotto Mai Morire (see photo). If you arrive by bus, the nearest stop is Avegno Grotti, also located just 200 meters from the house, in front of the Grotto Mai Morire.
