The Cider Lodge - Charming 1-Bed Annexe Retreat
The Cider Lodge - Charming 1-Bed Annexe Retreat
Description
We are Katherine and Mat Edwards, and together with our children, we live at Cider Cottage in the peaceful village of Swimbridge. We're delighted to welcome you to our cosy one-bedroom garden annexe, Cider Lodge. It's the perfect retreat for couples, solo travellers or young families – and we're happy to welcome one well-behaved dog. You have your own private space with access to our large, secure, shared garden where you can relax and spot local wildlife such as birds, deer and hedgehogs. The space Cider Lodge has a bright, compact, open-plan living/dining/kitchen area. The high sloping ceilings with skylights make the room feel light and airy. The lounge area has a comfortable, large sofa and coffee table, a storage ottoman (for board games and blankets), plus TV with Freeview. There is a small dining table with two chairs. The kitchen has a full set of appliances: fridge, gas hob, built-in electric oven, extractor hood, microwave, plus everyday items (kettle, coffee machine, toaster). The bathroom has a walk-in shower. The bedroom also has high sloped ceilings with a skylight, a side window, plus patio doors to the large shared garden. There is a corner wardrobe plus wall shelving for storage. If you are bringing a small child, we can provide a travel cot, mattress and high chair. Please let us know ahead of arrival. Please note that at the bottom of the garden is a road, so you can hear light road noise when outside. Within the village we are very lucky to have The Jack Russell pub within walking distance which serves fantastic food and they also do a takeaway menu if you fancy eating back at Cider Lodge. Swimbridge is ideally placed to explore what North Devon has to offer. Within 30 minutes you can reach the beautiful golden sands of Saunton Sands, Woolacombe and Croyde beaches. Not far from our doorstep is the Tarka Trail which is a traffic free walk or cycling route following the River Taw. Exmoor National Park and it's Zoo is within a 20 minutes drive. RHS Rosemoor in Torrington and Quince Honey Farm in South Molton are also both a short drive away. Our closest large town is the historic market town of Barnstaple which has a daily pannier market plus lots of independent cafés and shops. For an unforgettable day trip, you can catch the ferry from Bideford Quay (30 mins drive) to Lundy Island to see an amazing abundance of wildlife - including seals, puffins, dolphins and even coral. Guest access You have your private space in Cider Lodge and can share our large garden. You have your own garden table, chairs and loungers just outside the bedroom patio doors. If you are bringing a small child we have some swings and a slide plus a woodland play area you are also welcome to use. Other things to note We provide blankets to be put on the furniture and bed for your dog to sit on. We will also provide dog bowls. Please don't leave your dog unattended within the annexe. The garden is shared with Cider Cottage (used by us and our family).
