Home in Thrissur

The house & farm belongs to our grandparents, with whom we spent most of our summer vacations while growing up. We decided to refurbish it and open the doors to welcome those who are looking to get away from the din of the cities. In memory of our grandparents & their lifestyle, we serve only vegeterian food and alcohol isn't allowed in the property. The wooden roofs & the green cover (Nutmeg, Coconut, Jackfruit, Palm, Pepper & Mango trees!) keeps the house pleasant, even during summers! The space About the House The room is part of 'Chhaaya' - a 4 BHK ancestral house, situated in a small farm. Each room can be booked independently or the entire property can be booked as a whole (Listed on AirBnB - 8 can sleep comfortably, but the house can take in 15 with extra mattresses.) About the Room The room is well ventilated and has an attached private bath with hot water facility. We can provide extra mattress if the need arises. We do not provide AC currently as we feel the guests will soak in more while sitting in the verandah and stepping out for a stroll in the farm instead of staying locked up inside a temperature controlled space :) The Shared Space The verandah, the dining area and the common living space is shared between other guests as well. We have portable fans available incase you feel the need to have an extra fan in the shared spaces. The Locality Chhaaya is lcoated around 5 min walk from banks of Kurumali river. There is a temple on the banks and steps that lead into the river. We encourage guests to take in the view in quiet and to be mindful of local customs and sensiblities while clicking pictures or entering the bathing space near the temple. A 10 min walk from the banks of the river leads the guests onto a narrow road winding between fields on both sides. Its a refreshing sight in the morning. For the early risers or even for those who love a walk in the evening, this place will be a pleasant experience. For those up for a 2-3km walk, there is a dam that can be explored. Depending on the flow, you might find folks taking a dip in the river, near the dam. We would caution guests to not venture too close to the water without any local guide around. Guest access Guests are free to access the shared spaces (Dining Area, Verandah, Terrace, Common Living Space) as well as walk through the farm. We would put a word out that the farm has been maintaned in its natural state (Not all areas in the farm have paved pathways). Hence it is advisable to check with the host before venturing too deep. Covered shoes are preferred while going into the farm. There is a small pond within the property. Its primarily used for irrigation these days. We would advise the guests to not enter too close to the water. Guests are free to walk around the pond.
