Chipley Escapes: a unique space for 6 people

Set within the curtilige of a medieval manor, Chipley Escapes has been sympathetically renovated to provide contemporary living with a country chic charm. Incorporating the two double bedroom barn conversion Otters Holt, with the one bedroom stable conversion Rooks View, allows larger families, or groups of friends to be together but separated by a shared drivway The space Set within a historic medieval Manor House, Chipley Escapes incorporates both Otters Holt and Rooks View to provide spacious living each with its own entrance. Otters Holt is found on the first floor of the original manor house and has two double bedrooms and its own kitchen, living and dining space plus a spacious walk in shower. it is accessed by its own private entrance and has comfy outdoor seating, firepit, BBQ and a private patio. As you would expect with a 600 year old historic building, there are LOW BEAMS AND CEILINGS- WATCH YOUR HEADS! Antique furniture and a cosy log burner complete the ideal atmosphere to unwind and relax. Rooks View at Chipley Escapes is a one double bedroom cottage in the garden across the shared driveway from Otters Holt. Originally a stable it was also used to isolate family members who had contracted TB 200 years ago. Infact, when Fiona and Alby bought the property in 2017, the previous owners still referred to the derelict stone building as the TB Shed! Now fully renovated and extended, it has lofty vaulted celings, a spacious living/dining area with log burner and a fully equipped kitchen with oven, grill, fridge freezer, microwave and toaster. The bedroom has a comfy double bed with bedside tables, wall lights and hooks to hang your clothes, a full length mirror and a hairdryer. There is an electrically controlled skylight with black out blind. The ceilng is vaulted and a tall window looks out onto the garden. Outside, there is a wrap around patio with plenty of space to relax, outside seating and BBQ area. Spacious and with superfast WiFi provided bySTARLINK, if you are working away from home, the dining table easily converts to a large workstation, allowing you to work in a peaceful and quiet atmosphere. A short walk across the fields will bring you to the popular village pub The Martlet and the renowned White Post Cafe both less than a mile away. On the outskirts of Exmoor National Park and the AONB's of the Quantocks and the Blackdown Hills, there are plenty of opportunities for exploring, hiking, and cycling. In addition, the coasts of North Devon and Somerset, the Jurassic coast of Dorset, and the South Devon seaside resorts are under an hours drive. Less than half a mile from two cycling routes and with a multitude of other cycling routes nearby, secure storage for your bikes is available on request. Guest access Guests have the exclusive use of two private patios and charcoal BBQs. There is dedicated off-street parking for up to 3 cars and a fourth can be made available by prior arrangement. The driveway is shared with the owners who live on site. Other things to note A breakfast hamper is provided for bookings of 2 nights or more. This hamper includes homemade sourdough bread, a cream tea with clotted cream and homemade jam, butter, 6 eggs from our chickens and home produced apple juice.Alternatively, if you are staying only one night, the hamper can be purchased in its entirety for £30. Individual items are also available to buy. Please contact us if that is of interest. On cooler evenings, guests can light the log burner and get cosy by the fire playing board games or watch TV. Enough logs and kindling are provided for your first night A firepit and BBQ is also provided for summer evenings.. Further logs are available to purchase in nearby Wellington. Please let us know if you require the travel cot, highchair and baby bath. Chipley Escapes has high speed broadband for guests working away from home. As animal lovers, we welcome well-behaved dogs and dog treats, blankets, and poo bags are provided to make your dogs stay as comfortable as yours. We politely request that dogs are not left alone in Otters if you go out and are kept off the beds and furniture. If you are bringing your dog, please note that the garden is fully enclosed and the gate to the road can be shut to allow a lovely lawned area for your dog to play safely. Smoking and vaping is strictly prohibited at Chipley Escapes including the outside spaces
