Black beach on Borðeyri

Get close to nature and history at the very small village, Borðeyri. Tangahus guesthouse is few meters from the sea. Looking out of the windows you may feel like being on board a boat. The view from windows heading towards north is fantastic, especially at sunset in the summer time. During winter time our guests often see beautiful northern lights. Guests love to take walk to the beach and listen to the mysterious sound of the sea and seabirds. If you are lucky you can also see seals! The space Get close to nature and history at the very small village, Borðeyri. It might even be the smallest one in Iceland,but it has a big story about commerce and Danish merchants. Also took many Icelanders a ship from Borðeyri to Canada in the years before 1900. The oldest house in the village is Riishús, a former store, build in 1862, during the summer time it is open. There is a little coffee-house, craft and a second hand store. Tangahus guesthouse is only few meters from the sea, probably as close to the see as possible building a house. Tangahus was built 1928 as a warehouse and renewed during the year 2004-2008 as a guesthouse. The owners since 2004 are Ásdís and Inga. (Ásdís is Inga´s mother-in-law).Ásdís is former bank employee and housewife and Inga is a farmer,housewife and has finished baccalaureus atrium in tourism. In the kitchen is always coffee and tea for our guests, included in the price. There is a WiFi in the house. The water in Iceland is very clean, usually you can drink it right from the tap. The hot water comes from geothermal heat about 2 kilometers away. Guests may find it a strange smell but it is normal. For the coffee machine, please use the cold water. Guest access On the ground floor are 2 bathrooms and showers, also washing machine and a dryer that our guests are welcome to use. One the first floor is the kitchen. It is fully equipped with a refrigerator, stove, microwave,dishwasher,coffee machine and a toaster. Also a big dining room, with tables and cheers for up to 35 people, bathroom (without shower) and 2 bedrooms. On the second floor are 2 bedrooms. In the kitchen is always coffee and tea for our guests, included in the price. There is a WiFi in the house. We are not always on site, but you can easily reach us by phone (our numbers on the white main door). We will give you the number to the locker so you can get the key. Usually we do that by mail one week before arrival. Other things to note There are a lot of more tourist attractions in the area such as beautiful nature, churches, museums, country museums, historical places, etc. Please leave the house in the same condition as when you arrive.
