The building was once used for coal storage for the vast inglenook fire places in the adjoining Grade 2 listed Llancayo Country House and Estate. That is, until it was part of a massive renovation project where every part of the house and it’s outbuildings (including the Coal House) were brought into the 21st Century but retaining many of its stunning original features. The Coal House is open plan and set over two levels with exposed stone walls and the most incredible exposed rafters and oak kingpost truss to the vaulted ceiling above the whole space with beautiful exposed oak trusses above the open mezzanine bedroom area. The bedroom is accessed via a central wooden feature mid winder staircase with open wooden balustrades and newel posts. The ground floor has a lovely open plan living room with a double sofa bed and a single sofa bed and 55 inch Smart tv with FREEVIEW. In this very clever individually designed space is also a dining table and 4 chairs which can be set up if sitting at the table to eat is your preference. Why not take a break and book our recommended private chef for your meal requirements. The kitchen is extensively equipped including integrated appliances, a cooker, hob, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and on the lovely solid oak work tops is a coffee maker, microwave, kettle and toaster. The kitchen is further equipped with all the essential cooking utensils and pans etc required to make a full meal for the whole family or guest group. A bathroom with separate step in shower cubicle and corner whirlpool bath will create a wonderful relaxing experience for an evening in with the privacy and tranquility of the open countryside. A little history - in our grounds, the magnificent Cedars and Wellington Fir trees were planted by Edward John Trelawny (13 November 1792 – 13 August 1881) who was a British biographer, novelist and adventurer who is best known for his friendship with the Romantic poets Percy Bysshe Shelley and Lord Byron. You will be walking in the steps of some of the most influential people of their time with incredible, historical importance in our time. Dogs are very welcome in The Coal House. We have lots of lovely country walks within minutes and almost 10 acres of our own land. Please do let us know if you’d like to roam the grounds freely, just for security reasons. We have a wonderful 5 acre paddock which can be used if there are no grazing animals. If any animals are grazing at the time of your stay then we must ask that dogs are kept strictly under control and on a lead when outside at all times, any dog waste please pick up and put in our general waste bin next to the stable. The animals will be grazing to the paddock directly in front of the Coal House. If there are no animals in the paddock then we have no animals on site at that time.
