The Great Decoy - King Room

Tucked into the Hampshire countryside, The Great Decoy is a characterful village pub of beams, brick and low ceilings. Its name honours the village’s quiet wartime ingenuity, celebrating the ordinary people who used illusion to save lives. Rooted in the Test Valley, the food is produce-led with seasonal changes alongside pub favourites such as double smashburgers, handmade pies, fish and chips and nole pizza, in good company with cask ales, premium lager and a curated wine list. The space Our Small King Rooms are cosy and sophisticated spaces. What they lack in size, they make up for in style. Each en suite bathroom features a walk-in shower and indulgent, sustainably sourced land&water toiletries. The king-size beds are beautifully dressed in Egyptian cotton sheets and featherdown duvets for deep, uninterrupted rest. During your stay The Great Decoy is part of Chickpea Group, founded by Ethan, Jordan and Tommy in 2019, with a mission to reimagine rural hospitality. We now have a handful of pubs + a pizza shop in the South West. Our places are a reflection of the people who work there and the communities that keep them buzzing; each with individual and creative quirks but bound by the same approach – proper hospitality and characterful charm.
