Description

This historic chalet is just a short stroll from the unspoilt Humberston Fitties beach and close to Cleethorpes. A double room and bunk room will comfortably accommodate four guests and there is a fully equipped kitchen. Owned by local artist Sarah, whose artwork is displayed in each of the rooms. This is a characterful chalet with a large enclosed garden. The space This nearly 100-year-old wooden chalet is ideal for a relaxing stay, away from the hustle and bustle, just a short stroll from a dog-friendly beach and close to Cleethorpes. It's one of the remaining properties on the Humberston Fitties remaining from the early decades of the Fitties Plotlands settlement, where people from Grimsby and Cleethorpes came to this bit of the coast to have a break by the sea and take in the air. If you enjoy nature, the beach, art, heritage, minimal tech and dog friendliness then this chalet may appeal to you. A double room and a bunk room are available for up to 4 guests and there is a fully equipped kitchen. Dogs are welcome by pre-arrangement as the property isn't suitable for large dogs. I am a local artist and my artwork is displayed in each of the rooms, which I hope adds to the feel of the place. This is a historic characterful chalet with a large, enclosed garden. The chalets on the Humberston Fitties are all unique and reflect the style and tastes of their owners. The House with the Blue Door offers a garden and decking, sitting and dining areas, a double bedroom and a bunk room. It’s tucked away in a quiet area of the Fitties, down a leafy lane, and is round the corner from a beautiful beach with a lovely walk across to Tetney marshes. It really is the perfect place for a quiet getaway but close to the busy seaside town of Cleethorpes. Please note that a basic wifi router is available in the chalet, but as we are on the coast, it can be patchy. I don’t recommend this property as being suitable for pre-school infants, as there is no bath, only a shower room, and the space isn’t really configured for really young children. However, it’s a great space for older children to run around and enjoy. This is a quirky, historic chalet set in a large sunny garden. Guests who enjoy this space comment on its homeliness, peace, sheltered garden and old-fashioned feel. It’s often described as cosy, tranquil and quirky. Guests with dogs appreciate the enclosed garden and easy access to the beach. Other people have stayed and enjoyed the peace and tranquillity. However, it is not Center Parcs, nor is it a holiday lodge. This is a wooden structure, built originally for indoor-outdoor holidaying and has more in common with camping or glamping than staying in a hotel. This chalet is historic, homely, clean and comfortable and we try to be as honest as possible in the description and photographs, it's devastating for us when all our hard work and dedication to honouring the heritage of this chalet doesn't meet guests' expectations, which is rare, but it does happen. The House with the Blue Door is owned by an artist and the artwork is part of the charm of the place. It’s used as a holiday escape by myself and my family and I also host art and wellbeing workshops here. I have decorated the chalet in my unique style of artwork, which is inspired by folk art of past generations who decorated canal boats and properties in their own style. This chalet is nearly 100 years old, and is kept in keeping with the style and character of a Plotlands property. While having a fully fitted kitchen and central heating, it’s not been gentrified, and is not an overly domesticated space. This means that the slightly bohemian nature of the property might not be to everyone’s tastes. The garden, while maintained, is not overly manicured, as being part of nature is part of the experience of staying here. This property will not suit people who are used to staying in very highly finished properties such as ultra-modern holiday lodges. The ethos of the original owners of the Fitties was make do and mend, and back to nature, and this is something that I like to maintain, and I'm very careful to honour the custiodianship I have of a unique and historic property like this. We rent the chalet out to cover the costs of having a property on this site, and all bookings help us to maintain and look after this unique property, which is part of the social history of the area. The rental is not-for-profit, and all cleaning, maintenance and laundry is done by myself and my partner Marc. While the Fitties has a shared driveway with Thorpe Park, the two sites aren’t connected and guests aren’t able to use the facilities. Our family cat does visit the chalet when we use it so the property is not suitable for anyone with a cat allergy. Guest access The full use of the accommodation and garden is available for all guests. Other things to note Please note that whilst we do provide bed linen, we DO NOT supply towels. There is a mobile-data router for guest use that will supply access to the internet, signal is patchy as we are out on the Lincolnshire coast, and the chalet doesn't have wired-in wi-fi.
