The town is surrounded by an area of Celtic culture and outstanding natural beauty, with pristine beaches and crystal seas, majestic cliffs and rocky coves, all set against a heather and gorse landscape. A day trip to the Isles of Scilly by boat can be taken from the harbour and for those without transport there is a picturesque 20 minute train service to the harbour town of St Ives, the inspiration of many artists, writers and poets.
