The space The South Hams is Devon's jewel in the crown — an area of 'Outstanding Natural Beauty' that encompasses picturesque estuaries and a stunning coastline with miles of unspoilt beaches and hidden coves to a lush hinterland that extends to the wild untamed heathland of Dartmoor, there is variety for all to explore and enjoy. From the richly wooded Dart Valley and the historic deepwater port of Dartmouth all the way to Bigbury Bay and Burgh Island, you can discover the charm of charismatic coastal villages and towns. Buckland House is close to the village of Slapton and ideally placed for all the attractions of this beautiful corner of South Devon. The southerly location and warm Gulf Stream air ensure one of the mildest climates in the whole of Britain. The summers are long, autumns warm and winters mild, so that you can enjoy a visit at any time of the year. The South Hams is a relatively undiscovered region of South Devon located south of Dartmoor and south west of Torquay and is of exceptional beauty and contrast — a rural patchwork of fields, woodlands, rivers, estuaries, rolling hills and moorland which surround historic towns and pretty villages. Much of the spectacular coastline and countryside has been protected, with it's sweeping beaches and private coves along the sixty miles of spectacular coastline this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is ideal for an active family holiday, walking holidays or weekend short breaks. Buckland House is located in a tranquil sheltered valley surrounded by delightful countryside halfway between two of the West country's most popular sailing centres of Salcombe and the river Dart and one and a half miles inland from the historic village of Slapton, with its world famous Slapton Ley nature reserve and Slapton Sands, the three-mile beach that stretches from Torcross to Strete Gate. The Consevatory opens onto delightful secluded valley gardens with waterfall and spring fed duck ponds in over two and a half acres of grounds including a private front garden of 1 acre. The orchard has a badminton/cricket area, plus built-in barbecues. For alfresco meals, there's an outside dining pavillion with built in catering. A cafe table and chairs in the sunken part of the garden near the waterfall with views down the wooded valley and over the fields. In spring, it's full of snowdrops, bluebells and pink campions. Guest access Buckland House is let as the whole property suitable for up to 14 people attracting guests for family get togethers. The front gated garden is around one acre and includes private parking for up to 8 cars. The rear gardens of around two acres include ponds,waterfall and barbeque areas for our guests enjoyment. Arrangements can be made for additional guests sharing some of Buckland Court's other cottages. Other things to note This property is in a quite rural setting surrounded by farm animals. The area is accessable via narrow Devon lane. Many of our guests enjoy this setting for a relaxing holiday
